very lost - VS 2003, IIS 5.1 REPOST

w/ the same problem:
" Hi,

When I try to create a new web project,
or "add existing project from web"
or "open from source control"

i'm prompted for a URL and type in a virtual directory.

-- with "add project from web" i just get a file dialog box in "my
documents" and browsing to the right project folder doesn't work.

-- with "create new project" visual studio then complains that the
virtual directory doesn't correspond to
c:\someRecentRa ndomProejct\New projectName. i'm allowed to type in the
correct directory, and everything's hunky dory.

if trying to open a project from source control, i get the same deal as
"create new project" i.e. Visual Studio makes a stupid guess at the
directory, but i'm not allowed to correct that guess.

So I imagine my task is to get VS and IIS to work together so VS can
infer the directory when i type in the URL?

I'm very unclear about IIS/websites/virtual directories. I'm just
assuming that if i can browse to the correct directory by typing in the
URL in IE, then visual studio ought to be able to do the same. (it works
for creating new projects, after all)

Any help would be much appreciated!

Edward "

trying this solution:
"Yes, easiest is to create your virtual directory in IIS first with the
name that you want. This way you can place the project files where ever
you want. Then in VS create a new project and name it the same as your
virtual directory and then VS will correctly map to it. "

i just get "name already exists, type another"

how do i create a project if i have all ASP.NET sources and working IIS
application

i`m already trying like a month w/ no results

any help is very welcome

tnx

I have a ASP.Net web application that has two assemblies that run under com+. Under Windows 2000 the two assemblies are added to com+ automatically when instantiated from the web site. For this to happen we had to change the context in which asp.net runs from machine to SYSTEM by modifying the machine.config file. Under Windows 2003 no matter how asp.net is set to run as either machine or system. I get the following error: ...

After a relatively short period for beta5, where nothing major arose, we have just packaged up our first Release Candidate for v7.4, with the hopes of producing a full release over the next 7 to 14 days. There is only one major change between Beta5 and RC1 that, so far, has been reported back ... RC1 will no longer work with TCL8.0.x, due to a change to pgtclCmds.c: Use Tcl ByteArray objects to avoid unwanted character set translation...

Hi, Here is my situation. Can anyone provide insight? I have developed a database in Access 2002. I am planning to distribute it as a split MDE (front) / MDB (back) to be used by the Access runtime and also full-version. Some of the client workstations will have Access 2002 installed. Most of them will have the runtime installed. However, I can't find the Office 2002 Developer Edition anywhere! Nobody has

I've made a program sorting incomming mail in public folder. The function runs every minute by using the form.timer event. In Access XP it runs for weeks, no problem. Access 2003 runs the same code for 6 hours and stops. I've found the problem to be the Set MySession = CreateObject("MAPI.Session")

WinXP Pro Let me preface this by saying I have developed with the .NET IDE since its release, and I consider myself reasonably savvy with it. I have a medium sized form with about 120 controls - 60 labels and the rest are DropDownLists and TextBoxes. Almost every TextBox or DropDownList is placed in a Panel control whos visibility property is changed based on postbacks from another DropDownList (basically its a form that builds up...

Hi, I am running a ASP.NET 1.1 site on Win Server 2003 with IIS 6.0. The website has been running for about 1.5 years now. In the past, we used to have random cases of session variables getting lost, but not frequently. However, since the past 2 weeks, I am noticing an alarming increase of such session variables lost cases. My application log shows about 20-30 such errors every day. We have not changed anything at the server for a long...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
