I've written a POS system for a client, but we're having problems with the
customer receipt printing. The printer has a left margin gap of about 1
inch. I need to reduce that left margin width in order to prevent
wrap-around.
I have looked up the printer on the web and found a manual for it which
describes the printer escape sequences to send to the printer to control the
left margin, but I'm not sure how to go about it. The printer...

Hello,
We have a 'standard letters' type app that can produce the letter as
an XSL-FO document. We have used FOP to produce PDFs and are quite
impressed. We also need to be able to print the letter and also choose
paper from different printer bins. This is mostly so that headed paper
can be used for the first page and continuation for the rest.
Does anyone know if it is possible to define this with XSL-FO and if
FOP, RenderX or...

Hi,
I need to change the printer's font to "control" -a printer font, and then
send a sequence of characters to the printer. My problem is that I cannot
change the printer's font. Can this be done without API calls?
Thanks
Ioannis

I am having trouble with changing printer settings before I raise either the pagesetup dialog or the print preview dialog... Changing the printer name is easy, but I am also trying to change the paper size.... This particular paper size is 30386 Video Top is specific to the printer driver itself... Any sample code as to how to both change the printer and paper size as well as oriention so that the user doesn't have to? This particular printer...

Is there a way to change the DEFAULT printer settings for an installed
printer? I want it to change the printer settings for a specified
printer at the whole OS/Windows level, not just for the application.
Specifically, I need to change the default papersize for the printer
for about 150 remote users.
I've tried changing the paper size for the printer using the
PrintDocument class, but that doesn't seem to change the default paper
size...

Hi all,
I have a VB.NET app that sets up the default tray for reports to print to.
Values returned from Papersource.Kind are stored in a table for the user
group and report. This all worked fine until the users bought a new printer
with four trays, two of which tray 3 and Tray 4 return the value 257
(Custom). This is not the correct value and so reports cannot be set to to
auto print to tray 3 or 4.
Does anyone know how I can retrieve...

I have a 'printable' button to generate printable output
and want this to use A3 if available, irrespective of the
user's default printer setting. Is there any way to set
a page's preferred printed paper size from HTML?
Portable if possible, but IE-only would be better than nothing.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
