How do I compile/build and deploy?

Hello,

I’m developing my first ASP.NET website with Visual Studio.NET 2002 (It’s
also the first time I’m using VS.NET as well). I’m utilising both ASP.NET and
VB.NET. I have completed the first stage of the website. I now need to get
the first cut of this website running on another machine so that I can demo
it. This will be running on a PC with XP Professional (with standard
settings) and Microsoft IIS 5.1 (the standard web server that comes with XP
Professional).

What I desperately need to know is, how do I do this?

Till now I have been going to the ‘Debug’ menu and choosing the ‘Start
Without Debugging’ menu item to run the website.

But what do I do next so that I can demo the website on another machine? Do
I build/compile the application first and how? And then how do I deploy this
website on the other machine? Also this other machine do I need to install
any other software or make any setting changes so that it can run an ASP.NET
website? Please help I have been reading a number of resource and I’m very
confused. I have read some things about XCOPY etc but I’m really confused.

Thanks in advance,
George.

1) I create an alternative configuration "deploy" in configuration manager. This is derived from the "release" configuration. I do nothing to this configuration except ask it to build and Im getting compiler errors eg "Unsafe Code may only appear if compiling with /unsafe" and errors about it not being able to find certain project assemblies. If it's a straight derivation from the "release" configuration, why am I getting build errors? ...

When I deploy my web application (VB.NET), the response time kills me when each module is accessed. It frequently throws me back to my error page, or simply returns a user back to the login screen. Is there any type of utility that I can run against the website that would re-build these modules? Currently the only way I can deploy a change into production is to deploy it, then run thru each option down to it's lowest level and then...

It appears that the automatic compilation feature of ASP.NET causes problems with a security package called Black Ice that my hosting service is using. I'm hoping that if I manually compile my web service, I can avoid the randomly named DLLs that ASP.NET creates when I hit my web service after FTPing new C# source code. So I used Visual Studio to create a web service on the remote hosting service and that worked. However, I would like...

I am porting a website to ASP.net 2.0. Temporarily I compile with Visual Studio 2003 and deploying to ASP.net 2.0. How do I compile my website under ASP.Net 2.0? I know it can compile each page as I touch it. During the beta there used to be something like mywebsite.com/compile.??? that you could run. Does it still exist?

Hello (and sorry for my English), I downloaded the VideoCapture module on the http://videocapture.sourceforge.net/ site. I tested it with a webcam and that functions. Now I want to compile his file .cpp (vidcap.cpp). Thereafter, the idea is to be able to modify the code to include my own modifications.

I have a .net v2 asp.net problem. I develop on my workstation and deploy to a production server. I use compile on demand, so no pre-compile is done. When I deploy, I first must move in my new or changed pages. Then I must restart IIS. After that, everything is good, and I run for weeks without problems. If something should cause a compile ( like making a change to one of the pages and then requesting the page), the following error will...

Hi I've a development server, where I've set up and copied the code (ASP.NET 1.1 webapp in .NET 2003) from an existing QA server. But I'm having issues, seeing my code changes. When I make some change (aspx or code behind) and build the code, I'm not able to see the changes unless I deploy the dll in deploy directory, even when i'm executing the code in debug mode. i'm able to see the changes reflected when i open the url as...

Ok, I'm just a server guy with a bit a VS 2005 experience. I know that you can deploy asp.net apps either compiled or not compiled. My developer says that he prefers not to compile. I have to ask about the pro's and con's of both. I'm especially concerned about performance of each and the security pros and cons of each. Does anyone have a theory on this and\or a link to a site that I can read? Thanks very much and sorry if this...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
