Stopping the web site does not trigger the Application_End

Hi,

It seems like the Application_End handler is not called when I stop the
Web Site from IIS Manager (right-click on "Default Web Site" and select
"Stop"). Application_End works fine when the IIS service is stopped or
reset.

Do you know how I can be notified or how I can check if the "web
application" is Stopped, Paused or Running?

Regards

Sylvain

I am using Application_End to send out a notification about application being unloaded. I found that those notifications are not being sent because the app seems to get unloaded without Application_End ever being called. We started logging Application_Start and Application_End events and found that the number is not even: Application_Start happen more often than Application_End. My question is: What are the sutuations in which we should...

Hi All, I have an asp.net web application that needs to clean up some worker threads on application shutdown. These threads are emptying an in memory buffer of messages to disk. Basically I want these threads to empty any remaining messages to disk before exiting. To do so, I'm calling a clean up method in Application_End()

I have 2 virtually identical tables and wish to move data between them. Basically one table is called "live_table" and the other is named "suspended_table" and the only difference is that the primary key in the "suspended_table" is an auto incremented integer where as "live_table" primary key is just a standard integer. Here's the life-cycle: 1. Record gets entered into "suspended_table" 2. Record checked and then inserted into...

Hi all, I've got some code which monitors a file by way of the kqueue/kevent mechanism but I'm having trouble getting it to shut down cleanly. My thread dedicated to the kqueue is basically a while-loop which blocks on the kevent() call until an event is posted, at which point it rattles through and does what it's supposed to. So far so good. while(watcherRunning==true){

Hi, I'd like to write Javascript that stops animated gifs from animating. On Firefox, at least, window.stop(); does the trick, although it stops everything on the page and is kind of unpredictable. If I connect it to the onload event, sometimes only half the page will be displayed. Does the onload even fire before rendering? Does anyone know a reasonable way to accomplish my original goal of

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
