On the fly word to html translation.

Hi folks,

Forgive me if this has been asked a million times before.

I need to read a word document out of a varbinary field and display it
on a web page. I do not want to use a browser plugin as I want the
document displayed seemlessly.

Does anyone know how one goes about reading word docs and turning them
into html for display ?

Cheers

The "easiest" way is to use an instance of the Word COM interface on the
server. It has an export capability that will export a Word document to
HTML. Any other means is likely to fail, or at the very least, take forever
to implement. It should be noted, however, that Word doesn't translate to
HTML very well.

So I am quite upset that after working for a few hours on getting an XML file format and XSL file that formats the XML data appropriatly, only to find that if you store HTML code in your XML file (even in a CDATA block), after the XML file is rendered, the HTML that was stored in the XML file is not rendered, essentially put into the page as if it had <pre> tags around it. I know that someone is going to yell at me and say that the XML...

Hi In our web page we use a combination of HTML and server side controls and some of them have a custom attribute based on which we need to find and replace the values once the HTML is ready. For e.g. <LABEL DICTCODE="XYZ">Some text</LABEL> At run time just before the complete HTML is sent to the client-side I want to get hold of the HTML so that I can find and replace all the HTML elements

I'm having some problems converting VBA for Word 2000 to code that VB.Net understands. I recorded a macro in Word to add numbering (a. b. c.) to my paragraphs. I managed to translate quite a bit of it, but I'm having trouble with two pieces: ListGalleries - I can't find any way to make VB.Net understand this. When I do a mouseover, the error message it gives is, "Interface 'Word.ListGalleries' cannot be indexed because it has no...

Dear all, I have a problem with a form, and I have tried various permutations of htmlentities() and html_entity_decode() to resolve, but without success. Here is the workflow. 1: User pastes MS Word formatted text into form field. 2: Server uses mail() to send input text to mail client. 3: Recipient pastes text into html file.

I figured my first step is to install the win32 extension, which I did, but I can't seem to find any documentation for it. A couple of the links on Mark Hammond's site don't seem to work. Anyway, all I need to do is search in the Word document for certain strings and either delete them or replace them. Easy enough, if only I knew which function, etc. to use. Hope someone can push me in the right direction.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
