Hi,
I have a MySql problem I hope someone can help me with. I'm trying to run
an update on a linking table, the update is running into a Primary Key
constraint violation, and in my workaround I've got stuck trying to write a
DELETE statement.
Here's the table I'm working on:
CREATE TABLE `articles_categories` (

Hi Allan,
I'm using a nifty piece of code you put on here some time back to do a
duplicate entry check as below. I'm using to check for duplicate names.
However I am getting an error message on this line: Set rs =
db.OpenRecordset("SELECT ID FROM Contacts WHERE (" & sWhere & ");")
Contacts being the main table. I am using access 2003
The error message states that there are; Too few parameters. Expected 1
I have no idea how to...

Okay I have 2 tables:
Table A - holds a list of new hardware serial numbers and their corresponding model (no constraints or indexes)
Table B - holds a distinct list of current serial numbers and the corresponding model numbers (primary key on serial_numbers)
Since Table A has no constraints duplicates may exist.
Additionally, table A is actually an Excel spreadsheet that is maintained by an employee that records new hardware as...

Is there an easy way to check to see if a file is in use?
I want to open a CSV file from my .NET2 program, and write to it. However,
the file could be in use by another program. If that is the case, I don't
want to attempt to write to it, just abort.
Thanks,
Brian

I am getting the error:
"Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_tblCustomsTariffTreeMap'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.tblCustomsTariffCodeTreeMap'."
However, the record I am inserting does not represent a duplicate on the primary key.
To ensure this I ran the following and still got the error:
update tblCustomsTariffCodeTreeMap
set TariffCodeID = (SELECT max(tariffcodeid)+1 from tblCustomsTariffCodeTreeMap)
where...

Hello, I have a duplicate record check written in VB for a check in/check out database. Here's the pseudocode, written for the BeforeUpdate property on the form:
If DCount(search for records with the same TimeIn and TimeOut) > 0 Then
MsgBox("Duplicate record found")
Undo and set focus
End Sub
This code works fine if you try to add a new record that has duplicate times for TimeIn and TimeOut, but when I try to modify an...

Hi All,
I want to delete duplicate records from a large table.
There is one index(INDEX_U1) on 4 columns(col1,col2,col3,col4) which is in unusable state.
First of all when i tried to rebuild index it showed error as unique key violation.
So i want to delete duplicate records for col1,col2,col3,col4 combination.
How can i delete the duplicate records from this large table?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
