I want to provide the ability for my users to login from any page that they
are on. ie. have a login user control with a username and password box on
each page (not a link to a login page).
However, as the values of other controls on the page , and whether these
controls are displayed, rely on whether the user is logged in, I need to get
the UserID before the controls are created.
I suppose that I could set these properties in the...

Hi, I'm hoping someone can lend me a hand....I've got a .NET Web app
running on Windows 2000 IIS 5.0 linking to a SQL Server 2000 database.
When the database is located on the same server as the web app, the
pages render quickly - however, when I run the app with the database
on its own server, the page rendering takes anywhere from 5-8 seconds,
and when I enable tracing on the application, it appears to be the
begin prerender event that...

Hi all,
I have a simple aspx page. On the page there is only one button. When I
click on the button, the event sequence is Page_Load, Button1_click and
Page_PreRender. How do I supress the PreRender event? I know if I call
Server.Transfer or Reponse.Redirect in the Button1 click event, the page
prerender event will not occur.
Thanks.

I've got a user control with a drop down list of stuff. I want to have it so
that when the user changes the value in the list, it will show up in a label
on the main portion of the page. I can't figure out how to do it correctly.
I've tried setting a session variable when the drop down list changes but
the setting of the session variables seems to happen after the page_load
event has already happened.
Can anybody please help me?
All I...

Hi,
The system I am working on handles web page navigation in the following
fashion: When a button is clicked on a web page a post-back is
triggered. The page_load event occurs as usual with the the button
click event occurring afterwards. The button click event then runs the
code to forward the user to the next web page.
My problem is that the page_load event runs a whole load of code that
is unecessary when the button click event is...

I have a datagrid with a checkbox and dropdown list in each row. Both set
AutoPostBack to true and ItemCommand and OnSelectedIndexChanged events for
these controls works fine when DataGrid is not paged. As soon as I turn on
paging support, I no longer get events properly for any page except the
first.
1) The DataGrid displays the page numbers on the top (and bottom). Whenever
I click to go to a specific page number, the DropDownList's...

I am trying to send a webpage with datagrids as an email so I use the code
snippet below. In one of my datagrids, I reformat some rows in the
datagrid's Prerender event. The code behind of the page displays the page
and sends the email. The page displays fine however the email has the same
look and everything *except* the changes that were made in the grid's
prerender. I think I am missing something and was wondering why the changes
were...

Hi All,
In an ASP.NET project I am trying to improve performance. As it is now there
seems to be a huge bottleneck between the end of the Page.PreRender event
and the beginning of the Page.Unload event. Using a performance analyzing
tool (AqTime 4.9) I am not able to find out what is happening between these
2 events. Can anyone shine some light on what is normally going on between
these 2 events?
Thanks in advance.

hi,
i would like to display a discreet message on all my pages indicating how
long the server took to render the page. full tracing is not an option
because it would freak out my non-technical users!
i've looked around online and can find nothing to do this, or in the SDK
docs. i thought .Net 2.0 would have something more out-of-the-box for this
type of performance measuring but i can't find any.
i was thinking about running a timer...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
