Whether you are a web surfer or a C++ developer, if you use Windows be
cautioned about SONY music CDs. They contain 'viewer' type software that is
actually a trojan horse for a "rootkit". The licence agreement gives no
indication whatsoever that the 'viewer' software contains the implementation
of a nasty near-impossible to remove rootkit software.

Tom,
It sounds to me like ASP, not ASP.NET is handling the
request for WebForm1.aspx. This is most likely an IIS
config issue that may have been caused by order of
installation or reinstallation, or possibly even
something that happened in IIS before .NET was
installed.
Here is a way to prove or disprove my theory:

Hello,
I have a multithreaded windows NT service application (vb.net 2003) that I
am working on (my first one), which reads a message queue and creates
multiple threads to perform the processing for long running reports. When
the processing is complete it uses crystal reports to load a template file,
populate it, and then export it to a PDF.
It works fine so far....

Dear All,
I've an application running from the network server. The config file
includes some application setting and the connection string inside. If I
want the application to read the config file from client machine instead of
server one, how can I do it? Suppose I specify the config file location
under the system directory in client machine. Thanks
Best Rdgs

Hi,
we're developing some web services and use the local development server of
Visual Studio 2005 to create, run and debug the project. The web service
methods connect to a database hosted on a dedicated server and the Microsoft
CRM 3.0 server, also on a separate machine. As the CRM server installation
makes changes to the Active Directory, they are located in a separate
domain, while the development machines are member of the companies...

A Form has a FileUpload, 2 Buttons & a TextBox web server controls.
Using the FileUpload control, I want to give users the provision to
move & delete files that DO NOT exist in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot (i.e. the
root directory). This is the code:
<script runat="server">
Sub MoveFile(ByVal obj As Object, ByVal ea As EventArgs)
File.Move(fudFileSource.FileName, txtFileDest.Text)
'File.Move("F:\4.jpg", "C:\4.jpg")
End Sub

So many threads about this with few answers. Here's how I solved my
problem.
I was trying to create an ASP.NET website on one of my servers from
Visual Studio.NET 2003 on my development machine. The problem was that
the directory location of the "Default Web Site" node in IIS on the
server did not map to the location where I was trying to create the
new application based on the UNC path. For example, I was trying to
create the...

Hi everyone,
I"m having a problem with the OpenFileDialog() changing my path to save to
my .resources file. I'm a bit baffled why this is happening, even when I
set the OpenFileDialog back to the inital directory where the .resource file
resides.
What I am trying to do is get the location of my database and save it to
string format in my resource file (un-embedded). When I go to save this
information to my .resouce file it creates...

Thanks Peter,
I thought I'd give an update on this problem. My application had 2
assemblies that contained classed for the Data access and business
logic layer. It was on one of them that I was getting the Access
denied error. After checking different settings and googling I wasnt
able to pinpoint the problem and as a temporary fix I decided to merge
the two assemblies into one, my logic being no offending assembly no
access denied...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
