This is a very strange error I've been dealing with. I think these items
might be related.
I am able to debug code on IIS using VS.NET 2003. I can step through code,
set breakpoints, and do everything I want.
However, every 15-20 minutes or so, when I try to debug code I get the
"Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web
server. You do not have permissions to debug the webserver. Verify that you
are a...

Here's some weirdness for you. I thought I'd be clever and track
user's sessions. Application_Start creates a DataTable and dumps it in
the Application object. Then in Session_Start I put some stuff in it:
Application.Lock();
DataTable objUserTable = (DataTable)Application;
DataRow objRow = objUserTable.NewRow();
Guid objGuid = Guid.NewGuid();
objRow = objGuid;
Session = objRow;

The 2nd parameter of the
method controls whether a persistent cookie is created - so that
ASP.NET can "know" if the current user has been previously authenticated
(during previous browser sessions).
My question: How can code I write elsewhere in the application retrieve that
cookie - or otherwise "know" if the current user has been authenticated? My
intent is to have some pages in the application that do not require
authentication in...

I am trying to Synchronize anonymous users with authenticated uses
using Profile_MigrateAnonymous. However Profile_MigrateAnonymous only
carries information in one direction, for instance, if I delete one
item from the basket in a shopping cart when the user is still
anonymous, the item comes back right after I log out. I would like to
know if is there any way to synchronize both directions so that the
user sees the information in the...

I'm trying to figure out why I can't delete a file from within my
application.
Part of my application is protected via forms authentication. If I try to
call a delete file function from within that, I get prompted for a
username/password by the browser/server and eventually just get a permission
denied error.
If I use the function outside the protected folder, it can delete the same
exact file just fine.

Hey
asp.net 2.0
I want my website to be available only for authenticated users (except the
front page (Default.aspx) which all users can view). If an anonymous user
tryes to access other pages than the default.aspx, then the user should be
redirected to AccessDenied.aspx.. There is the problem. I tested as a
unauthenitcated user and clicked on the menu item, instead of redirecting me
to AccessDenied.aspx I was redirected to...

I am using the login control on my web site, which has both authenticated an
unauthenticated users. I added a logout page that is supposed to allow an
authenticated user to drop his authentication and resume operation as an
unauthenticated user. Using the below code in my logout page, the user is
taken directly to the login page immediately after logging out and has no
way of returning to the home page as an unauthenticated user.

Hello,
I need to check if a user is authenticated. I tried everything I could
think and find:
If Membership.ValidateUser("shapper", "27lamps11") Then
Response.Write(Request.IsAuthenticated.ToString)
Response.Write(My.User.IsAuthenticated.ToString)
Response.Write(Me.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated.ToString)
Else

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
