Hello,
I have a SetUp project in my solution. When I add the primary output
of certain projects to it they add their project dependencies twice -
the debug and the release.
Anyone known what I'm doing wrong? I'm worried that I'll end up
shipping the debug version.
Thanks,

Hi,
On a 3GHz computer with XP service pack 2 (and before service pack 2) with 1
gb ram, I experience a very long time (30-45 sec.) for VS to setup a debug
version environment. On my laptop ( a 1.4GHz centrino thing with 512 mb ram)
it only takes half the time!!??.
I think these long debug setup times started when I included references to
MS word in my app, if this could be an explanation I don't understand why
this does not affect...

I would like to have my new C++ projects start out with two configurations, UnicodeDebug and UnicodeRelease, instead of the standard Debug and Release configurations that Visual Studio always creates. Is there a way to configure Visual Studio to do this
Thanks in advance

2 questions.
I have two XPPro boxes. One has VS2003 Pro installed. The other box has
IIS and MSDE installed.
1.) What do I do to make the IIS on this 2nd machine ready for .NET and
ASP.NET? Do I just run dotnetfx on the Prerequisites CD or is there
something more I should do?
2.) What do I need to do in order to be able to debug the ASP.NET app that

I am developing a standalone .exe in VB.NET. This is my first full
application since vb6. The sln. contains 2 projects and around 50
classes(including forms). For the first 6 weeks it was working like a
charm, hit f5 and run with the debugger. Then a coworker and I tried
to "cleanup" the references b/c they didnt' look right. well,
needless to say, it is very screwed up now.
1) i cannot get my refernences to recognize the correct...

Hello,
I'm trying to help a friend debug an issue he's encountered when using the
..Net Setup project to distribute a VB 6 application (which utilizes several
ActiveX controls). In most cases, his customers can install and run his app
without issues.
However, in one instance, the installation fails when the user attempts to
run Setup.exe. The following error appears:

Hi Folks
Hopefully a simple question...
Using Visual Studio 2005, what is the easiest way to create a setup for
my Windows Forms App that can copy a large number of required PDF files
to the installation directory when the setup is executed.
I have tried manually adding the PDFs to the Setup Project but it then
takes absolutely ages to build.

Hi.
I was wondering if it was possible to give a variable different values
depending on if the code was compiled in debug or release?
i.e. if the code was compiled in debug:
string strConnection = "Server1";
if the code was compiled in release:
string strConnection = "Server2";
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm trying to follow Lab1 of the WF Hands On Labs.
Having created the project and set a breakpoint as per instructions, I press
F5 to compile and run the project. The instructions say that when the
breakpoint is reached I should select Step Into from the Debug menu. However,
Step Into does not appear as an option. I only see Step Over? On the Debug
toolbar, I can see the icon for Step Into but it is greyed out.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
