I have a question about the global.asax.cs file. I'm
reading info from a database to populate a DataGrid. I
read somewhere that the opening of the database should
occur in the global.asax.cs file that way every request
doesn't open the database again.
How is this done? It doesn't seem that the global file
can access the DataGrid webcontrol, located on the
index.aspx, file. Only the index.aspx.cs file can access
this control.

hi,
i have a function i need to use in various aspx pages and would like to keep
it in one place instead of duplicating it in every page i want to use it.
i tried puting it in 'Global.asax' declaring it as public, thinking it would
have a global scope, but when i called the function in a aspx page it is not
recognized.
i couldn't find a way to add a module to the project in which to put it

in the asp applications global.asa file I had several
<object id="id" runat="server" scope="scope" class="comclass"> tags for
objects that the app used to speed up some global level data access and
functionality.
I have recoded the class libraries in .net and would like to acomplish the
same functionality in asp.net.

Hello,
I have spent ages trawling through Google, looking for information about
global functions in ASP.NET and I'm still not clear about the best way
to go about this (or not).
I am writing a site that will be for members only. They will have to log
in to gain access to any of the pages. I am holding the user information
in an XML file (there will probably never be a large number of user, so
this is efficient enough).

This is a strange problem. I have a project where the contents of
global.asax application_error are not firing. It is an asp.net 2.0
application using web application projects. I have another app using
web application projects and it's firing fine but it was upgraded from
the 1.1 framework.

Hello,
I was trying to connect to an Xml database, and I thought of loading the Xml
Document in "Application_Start" so that the xml is loaded only once and then
queried later as many times as requested, this should the efficient way of
connecting to the database afaik, however I can't access the xml object in
my aspx files with this error "dbxml does not exist in current context":
