I decided to try out VS.NET 2005 Beta 1 refresh and ASP.NET 2.0.
I built a simple page and published it to a virtual directory in
C:\Inetpub\wwwr oot\WebSite1. VS.NET 2005 precompiled it.
I get a Service Unavailable error message from IIS6.
Now I uninstalled the ASP.NET 1.1 and ASP.NET 2.0 isapi filters and
reinstalled the ASP.NET 2.0 isapi filter again.
Still getting Service Unavailable though.
I noticed that ASP.NET 2.0 was not allowed in Web Services Extensions so I
enabled that.
Shouldn't the VS.NET 2005 installer enable it? Still getting Service
Unavailable though.
What can I do to correct the problem?

re: Shouldn't the VS.NET 2005 installer enable it?
Nope.
Shipping the server totally unenabled is more secure.
That way, the admin enables only what's needed.
re:Still getting Service Unavailable though.
When you run .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0 simultaneously,
you *must* run them in different Application Pools.
Go into your IIS MMC, create an Application Pool and,
after you've created it, assign all your 1.1 apps to the new pool
( leave the 2.0 apps in the default AppPool ).
Also, go get Denis Bauer's ASP.NET Version Switcher http://www.denisbauer.com/NETTools/A...nSwitcher.aspx
It will make your life a lot easier when switching
applications to run under a different ASP.NET version.

Thanks. Your suggestions helped a lot.
To the VS.NET 2005 team: If the installer would ask if it should enable the
ASP.NET 2.0 isapi filter then that would avoid some confusion.

re: Thanks. Your suggestions helped a lot.
Glad to have been of help!
Your suggestion that an installation fork be included,
to ask whether the 2.0 version should be enabled
after installation is a good one, although I'd settle
for a screen telling the user that they need to be enabled,
plus a note in the README file.

I wrote a program that loops through a file of records.
It parses each line in the file and sends them to a web service that
inserts them into an AS400DB2 database using Asynch calls.
This is the wierd part. Say their are 500 records in the file.
If I run the process once, maybe 250 will appear.
If I run it a second time, maybe 400 or all the records will appear.

I have a web service running on W2003, IIS 6.0 with a client program running

Occasionally, the web service returns this error message to the client:

My services shows once a while the infamous error "Service
Unavailable" (http 503 error). This error happens only if my asp.net
application encounters a problem with the SQL Server. In my case it
occured when my DB logs were full or the server administrator on the
shared server environment restarted the DB.
After my ISP restarts the DB, my services are still unavailable, which
means I have to connect myself to the webhosting panel and...

I created a new Application Pool for my ASP.NET application since I want it

it runs my application when its identity is set to the default Network

Hi All,
I have a JSR 168 portlet that I need to call a J2EE 1.4 JAX-RPC Web Service. I'm using Oracle 10g JDeveloper. (I don't have a choice about this). It works when I call the sync method, but it won't recognizine the async method.
I'm thinking I have to use the async method of the WS because the WS takes a while to do it's thing and return. If it doesn't take a while, everything works fine. If it does take a while, my portlet becomes...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
