Culture settings?

Somone told me that you should always take care of Culture settings in the
application by setting a Culture ISO thing on some Thread that ASP is runing
on.. so that decimals and thousand separators and stuff won't be chaos in
for different countries.

How do I set these things and can someone explain more?

Globalization Settings in web.config is your solution...
For example settings given below is for Turkish...
<globalizatio n requestEncoding ="utf-8" responseEncodin g="utf-8"
culture="tr-TR" uiCulture="tr-TR" />

Also, your operating system must support this culture which can be installed
from Control Panel->Regional Settings...

Hi, I have an asp.net application that is using the wrong culture. I cant figure out where does it get its setting from. My web application runs as a specific user since so that I can give it some more rights. I can login to the web server using this user identity. Now I go to the regional settings and change the date format to a specific (dd-MMM-yyyy) format. Now my asp.net process is running properly with this new identity however...

I have a application in which culture settings are customizable, they dont depend on the machine settings on which the application is running, I need to make sure that all the threads running in the application have the correct culture settings .. I have some questions to better understand this concept .. 1. Is every thread in asp.net application associated with a session ? 2. I have a webpage which is parent of all the pages in the...

We recently installed the 1.1 redist of .Net on a new server. Only after installing .Net did I realize that the regional settings of the server had not been localized. The application we have written uses GB style dates i.e. dd/mm/yyyy. When running new server we were getting error message - i.e. incorrect date format. First we removed the app and .net, reset the locale, rebooted and re-installed everything. However server still...

I am developing a DLL (class library) for a web application of mine. In the web.config of the web application I have set: culture="en-GB" uiCulture="en" in order that the date format will be dd/mm/yyyy. I also changed the regional settings to that date format. When I am using the Now() function in the DLL I get the date format in mm/dd/yyyy instead. Why the date format in the DLL is different? Shouldn't it take the culture settings...

Hello, I want to view the calendar in another culture, for example let it show in Arabic. I use this code in the Main, but the calendar is still in the same culture: CultureInfo sa = new CultureInfo("ar-SA", false); sa.DateTimeFormat.Calendar = new System.Globalization.HijriCalendar(); // Sets the culture to Arabic (Saudi Arabia) Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = sa;

I've searched the groups on this issue, here is a lengthy thread, where i have tried every thing stated: *registry settings *regional language settings *page level and app level culture/uiCulture settings...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
