ZoneAlarm hanging ASPX page in debug mode

Running ZoneAlarm version 5.1.033.000 because the newest version (as you all
know) hangs up ASP.NET in development mode.

Anyways, I'm developing a project and most pages work fine, when debugging,
but when I try to open a connection to a SQL Server db (via Data Appliation
Blocks) the page (and VS.NET really) hangs badly. As a test I stopped
ZoneAlarm and it's completely better. Any ideas what could be going on?

What version of ZoneAlarm seems to work well with VS.NET? Any ideas where I
can dl an older version and not use the newest one?

Thanks!

ZoneAlarm is known to cause problems with ASP.NET:

"Configure your antivirus software so that it does not scan .asax and
..config files."

Does this apply to zone alarm too? or just anti-virus software?

Which Firewall do you use? Is the XP SP2 one good enough?

Thanks

I use Norton anti-virus and a Linksys hardware router/firewall. No problems
with that combo.

All the documentation says that leaving an ASP.NET application in debug mode has a big performance hit. I can't detect any difference between debug and non-debug modes. Am I missing something or is the documentation wrong? I've been load testing an ASP.NET website (built in VS.NET 2003 in C#). I've used the ACT to generate heavy loads over several minutes. Debug or no debug produces almost identical performance results.

I've done the following in VS2005. 1. Created an aspx page with no content other than "hello". 2. Ran the page successfully in debug mode. 3. Modified the page contents. 4. Ran the page successfully in debug mode several times. 5. Modied the contents. 6. When I run in debug mode I see the very first version of the page in IE.

Why isn't my aspx page rendering before the process() method call? What is happening is my aspx page never renders, and the debug is jumping straight into my process() method when I run in debug mode in VS 2005, usign the VS built-in web engine. <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="TestURLRewriter.aspx.cs" Inherits="TestURLRewriter" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"...

When I go into debug mode and the web page I am working on opens in the browser via the local Cassini Web Server I get a path appended onto the full path e.g. localhost:7859/FolderName/filename_that_should_be_in_the_root.aspx this is a pain as I do my links from the root e.g. /css/site.css and the additional folder in the path stops that. Is there any way to get the site in debug mode to show

I have a .net 1.1 winforms app that calls an aspx page which I need to debug. I also need to start the debugging process from the winform because the winform first calls a web service which passed secure data to the web server and is cached for 10 seconds and returns a guid. when the winform loads, it passes in this guid as a param to find the data being cached. It then uses this data for various processing. Therefore, I can't simply...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
