The SessionState is handled by an HttpHandler, and it's possible that your
HttpHandler is called before the SessionState HttpHandler.

By implents the IRequiresSessio nState (marker interface), you prevent your
HttpHandler to be called before the SessionState HttpHanlder, and so you can
use the session.

Hello Cyril S.,

And if you only require read only session state, you implement IReadOnlySessio nState
instead of IRequireSession State.

I am trying to create a custom HttpHandler that will load a page but keep the response object open while waiting for a message from a MessageQueue. In the ProcessRequest method I call: public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { HttpResponse response = context.Response; response.Buffer = false; response.BufferOutput = false; StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();

We have an .NET 1.1 application running on 4 2K3 load balanced servers (using WLBS). IIS has the .NET aspnet_isapi.dll mapped as a wildcard application map. The web.config points *.html to a HttpHandler of our design. This setup serves over a million page views daily with almost no hassle whatsoever. We have brought a few affiliates onto our system who have URLs still floating in Google, Y! and other search engines from before they...

Im trying to add an httphandler for all *.sgf file extensions. I have developed the handler, 1. installed it into the gac 2. added it to the machine.config: <httpHandlers> <add verb="*" path="*.sgf" type="CustomExtensionHandler, Extenders.CustomExtensionHandler, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=d831d925597c1031" validate="True"/> </httpHandlers>

I've got a custom HttpHandler to process all requests for a given extension. It gets invoked OK, but if I try to do a Server.Transfer I get an HttpException. A Response.Redirect works, but I really need to avoid the extra round-trip to the client. I've tried Passing the page name, the full URL, and the instance of the handler class to the Transfer method, but everything gets me the same error 500. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I am trying to create a custom error page, that the user gets shown when a error has occurred within my website. The code works perfectly, apart from when an invalid URL is typed in, then i am unable to pass the exception from the global.asax file to the page via the sessionstate. Everytime i try to pass something into the sessionstate i get a error message of 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.'

Hello, I am having problems with Server.Transfer(string, bool) in the ProcessRequest method of a custom HTTP handler. I get the "Error executing child request" error message. The page that I am trying to transfer to is mapped to the same custom handler. Does anyone know why this occurs? Does the Server.Transfer method assume that the target page is mapped to the default aspx Page HTTP handler?

We have a site that gets many requests for nonexistent pages, files and folders. We want those requests redirected to the index page. However, for static files (i.e. images and some other extensions) we do not want to redirect and in that case want to return nothing. We had been using the 404 error page to redirect but need to discriminate the type of file being requested so that we do not return a page when an image is required. We'd...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
