Newbie ASP.NET question:
Now that I've created an ASP.NET site, how to I get it to my hosting
provider?
I've developed sites with Dreamweaver MX in the past - with Dreamweaver,
it's very easy. The ability to link to the remote site (via FTP) is built
into the IDE and all you have to do is click upload. Does Visual Studio
have a similar feature? How do most people deploy their sites to a remote
server from Visual Studio?

I've written a file uploading part of my application using the IHttpModule.
So now, I don't have the memory problem of uploading something big.
Problem:
I can't find which function I have to override, so that I can catch the
event when while user's uploading a file, then suddenly closes the browser.
In that case, couple things happens:
1) ASPNET will start eating up the uploading file on memory instead of on
disk (so picture a...

Hi,
I am facing a different problem in my application. In that I am uploading a
folder that contain only images. Everything was done and was working fine
too. When I executed the application using the localhost it works fine. But
when my machine acts as a client and executes the application from another
machine (considered as the server) it is telling that the folder is not
found, even if the folder is present in the client machine. The...

Hello Forum,
I would appreciate it if you could recommend settings to use auto-vacuum in
my version 7.4 database. I am uploading several thousands records in the
database at a rate of ~1 second per record (the data is uploading from a
different server). I have noticed that the performance of the uploading is
improved if I vacuum the database every so often so I decided to take
advantage of auto-vacuuming to maintain the best...

my app was working fine in VB.NET 2003 (and framework 1.1). Now with
VB.NET 2005 (framework 2.0) the uploading to an http server (ie.
www.sharebigfile.com) stops with the error "The request was aborted:
The request was canceled" after about 7 MB.
For example, I might be uploading a 73MB file. After about 11% done the
upload aborts. :shake:
It works great for files < 5MB. I can upload those every time.

I have a web application that continues to "break" on me after a random
amount of time. There doesn't appear to be a rhyme or reason, just out of
nowhere some of my error handling kicks in and users are displayed one of my
"friendly" error messages (or a friendly error page).
I am also sent an email when an error occurs but due to my newbie-ness I am
not sending myself enough details (I am working to fix this).
The strange part is...

I am encountering a very strang problem with file uploading in my
ASP.Net page.
When we try to upload certain file, we'll get an error msg of "Cannot
find server or DNS Error".
We are running on Win2003, IIS, ASP.Net 1.1.
The page works fine if running from localhost. It only has problem when
accessed from a domain name.

Hi!
I'm uploading file(s) over internet like...
My.Computer.Network.UploadFile("C:\file1.txt",
"ftp://some.domain.com/file1.txt", "MyUID", "MyPWD", False, 1000)
....and this is working fine. Uploading file takes only about 1-2 seconds
because files sizes are small, but when I followed the ftp-servers event
list timestamps the connection is open until "Connection timeout" or "No

Dear all,
We have purchased a product called SA-FileUp which we have used in our
organisation for a number of years, I'm quite an an avid supporter of it,
recently I've been trying to ensure some of our older applications which
used native .Net uploading moved across to our .Net implementation of
SA-FileUp.
Because there is development time involved in this I have now been asked by
my manager to "test" both native and SA techniques to...

You may be wondering why you would want to put your files “into” the database, rather than just onto the file-system. Well, most of the time, you wouldn’t.
In situations where your PHP application needs to store entire files, the preferred method is to save the file onto the server’s file-system, and store the physical location of the file in your database. This is generally considered to be the easiest and fastest way to store files.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
