Hey Everyone,
Win2K Pro w/all Updates, VB.Net Standard 2003, .NET 1.1 w/all updates
I have a web app that I've been working, coding, testing, coding, etc. Works
fine - debugger debugs stuff as it should. Eventually, I will get the error
about not having permissions on the web server ya-da-ya-da. I have made NO
changes to either IIS (my desktop machine) or VB.Net (my desktop machine)
environments and now I cannot use the debugger. The app still executes
without debugging but I would prefer that the debug work correctly.
Strange!!
More Strange! If I close the project in question and create a shiny new
one - Everything works as planned - debugger an all. If I then load the old
project I once again get hosed up about permissions.
After reading through the posts here, I turned off the anonymous setting for
the app and now I'm back in business - for now. SO my hat is off to
newsgroups and the wealth of info lurking about.
Anyone have any thoughts about why an app would debug and all of the sudden
lose its permissions. Call me curious!

Part of the problem is that there are just too many moving parts.
There are IIS settings, and IE settings, and VS.NET settings, and
little things can go wrong anywhere and bring it al to a halt. I'm
glad VS 2005 simplifies the setup a bit.

Hi everybody. I've been reading posts a year old about the fibonacci
series right on this newsgroup, and while it's not directly games
related, I'll share my own notes as well.
On another newsgroup there is an ongoing discussion about the famous
fibonacci sequences, and a fine program written by a poster got my
attention so just for fun I wrote one myself and put it on the web just
about two days ago. It can be found on the site

I tried to add the exception management block to my asp.net 1.1 application
today and was getting some errors with it the application, so I removed it.
When I re-loaded the app I got an error about the JIT and not having the
right permissions. I looked up the error and saw that I needed to have the
ASP.NET user added to the project folder. Well its been there for over a
year, but all of a sudden it was missing. So I added it back in. ...

I have an application that has been working just fine for a couple of years.
It queries a SQL database and returns some formatted data back to the client.
I have a new client, who has a larger database than any of our previous
customers. For example, the query to build the datatable now takes about 2
minutes instead of one minute or less. This is a third party database we are
integrating with. He is getting very strange results. For...

Hi there,
Not sure if any one has experienced this before and can tell me what's
wrong with this statement:
if verified = false then dataObjects.HasError = true
This is all on one line and verified is defined as a boolean variable.
Irrespective if verified is set to true or false in ALWAYS executes

Hello, all.
After trying to wade through a great deal of undocumented and
uncommented code in order to speed up a frame capture rate, I've
decided that, for my sanity and that of my boss and any coders to
follow me, I should start over and write it myself.
I reuse a great deal of the old code, but I can't really get much
further until I get the passthrough working (Passthrough is the 'live'
video feed captured by the camera and card).

Hi there,
I am puzzled with the behavior of my code.. I am working on a
networking stuff, and debugging with eclipse (GNU gdb 6.6-debian)..
The problem I am experiencing is the following:
Whenever I declare the sockaddr_in structure inside the main, the
debugger crashes at line X*, not being able to access argv parameters
(see code below). It is very strange.. by only being there,
sockaddr_in does not allow me to question argc...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
