Bound DataGrid Wizard with built in Update/Delete/Insert?

I have a repetitive task where I need to edit a table in SQL Server
through a web page. Nothing fancy, just populate a datagrid and use
the commands Insert/Update/Delete/Cancel.

Is there a quick and dirty way to do this within 60 seconds? I don't
care if I have to use those design-time connection and data adapter
objects. Or maybe there's a 3rd party tool?

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Patrick but I know the basics on setting up a datagrid and
hooking up all the events to do inserts, updates and deletes.

I'm looking for an automated or even semi-automated way to perform
these actions for me, like a wizard. Even a tool to generate pages to
edit database tables in less than 60 seconds.

If anyone has any recommendations , please let me know.

Hi everybody, I need help for this problem: I'm using a DataGrid to Insert/Modify/Cancel data from a single table. At the moment, every cell modification of a pre-existing row is correctly update on the DB. I have some doubts about inserting a new row. The table has a Id field that is a primary key defined ad Identity properties on SQLServer engine. This column isn't visible on the grid and a properties DefaultValue=0 is defined.

I have a asp.net page (C#), with a datagrid. I use template for all columns, and have <asp:requiredfieldvalidator> in with one of the textboxes, to make sure it's filled in. However, this validation is not firing, even when I leave the field empty. Below please find the code: <%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Data" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Data.SqlClient" %>

Binding Manager & dataset - won't add record I've got an untyped dataset with controls bound through code. The user can select a question number from a bound combobox, and the question number and question text are displayed in bound textboxes. This part works fine. When I go to add a new record, the textboxes clear as they should. I enter a new question number and tab to the textbox for the question text. At this point, the text for the...

I have filled a datagrid with data from a dataset. The dataset was filled with a dataadapter - and I used the wizard to create insert, update, delete commands. I would like to prevent the user from adding a new record in the datagrid, but still be able to change/delete data - is this possible?? Maria

Why isn't my update method getting called? Pasted below is an aspx from a 1.1 application I'm working on. It has two textboxes and a button for inserting data into the database, and a datagrid for editing and deleting data. When a user clicks on the "Edit" button in the datagrid, Edit() method is called and the appropriate row is changed into textboxes. And if user clicks on the "Update" button, the Update() method is fired. But if...

I create 2 data OleDbDataAdapters, one with the wizard, and one in code. I know the adapter created in code is OK because I use it to fill a data table. However, when I try to use the same SQL insert statement in the two adapters, the adapter created with the wizard works fine, but the adapter created in code gives me an error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". The code is below. What am I doing wrong? ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
