I have set up a Windows service in VB.NET, and created a
'Service Manager' Windows Forms app that can 'get'
information from that service. The service consists of the
basic service 'framework' along with a large class that I
wrote that actually does all the work. The Service Manager
app uses .NET remoting to get info into/back from the...

I have a Web Service that I am reponsible for that we use for data
integration purposes. Recently I have been tasked with sending some of this

They have requested that I subscribe to a Web Service that they have

When to use a privileged user thread rather than a windows service?
That's the question raised in a previous post . It was suggested that if the service needs to interact
with a WinForms app (which is the UI used to adjust the actions taken by,
and the schedule of the service), then a privileged user thread should be
used in the UI - no...

Using multiple System.Timers.Timer objects in a Windows Service for
performing multi-thread activities in a periodic fashion. Timers are
AutoReset=false, to only have a single timer execution thread running at any
given moment.
Typically, timers will have an interval of 5 to 15 minutes. Conditionally,
the interval may be set to 1 second...

I'm really starting to hate writing services -- or trying to, anyway.
Why do I need to rename my project to the service name?
Why do I need to set the "ServiceName" property to my service name?
Why do I need to set a property within my code to the service name?
Are all these required or am I just doing this for consistency purposes?

Yes, sorry I tried to make it clear in the original question that I want to
get the user token of the service - ie. the account the service is running
under. I know services don't have user tokens - I suspect users do have
tokens, hence "user token", otherwise we might call them "service tokens" or
somesuch :-)
If you read the question...
