Passing exception to another page?

Hi,

Whats the best way to pass an exception object and some string params from
one aspx page to another. I cant use the Session or Application objects? Is
it possible to use the Context.Items collection?

Thanks

Hi Donal:

You can pass an object reference along in the Context.Items collection
if you are using Server.Transfer . Context.Items only sticks around for
the duration of the request, so if you do anything that creates a new
request (like Response.Redire ct) you'll lose anything in the Items
collection.

Note: there is also HttpServerUtili ty.GetLastError that can be used in
some scenarios.

Ok. So I'm passing values between web pages, as per microsoft's framework development guide (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/cpguide/ht ml/cpconPassingServerControlValuesBetweenPages.asp) So, I have two pages, one that has some public properties and fires a Server.Transfer("receivepage.aspx"); The receivepage.aspx can then get some of the public properties I've set on the first page.

I have a .net client/server application using remoting, and I cannot get the custom exception class to pass from the server to the client. The custom exception is derived from ApplicationException and is defined in an assembly common to the client and server components. The custom class merely defines three (3) constructors -- the null constructor; one with a string parameter; and one with a string and innner exception parameter -- that...

I know that this has been beaten to death but I can't seem to resolve my issues (I have 2 of them). I have created a class that exposes a public method which returns a datatable as a datasource for a Crystal Report. The method has a single argument which represents a parameter required by the Stored Procedure. When I generate the report in Crystal and run it using the class I built, it works fine. I've tried it with parameters and...

I'm running into an Invalid Cast Exception on an ASP.NET application that runs fine in my development environment (Win2K server running IIS 5) and a test environment (also Win2K server running IIS 5), but fails on IIS 6 running on a Win2003 server. The web uses Pages derived from a custom class I wrote (which itself derives from Page) to provide some common functionality. The Page_Load handler the failing webpage starts out like this: ...

Hello, I am trying to come up with the best way to pass large amounts of data from page to page, namely a data table. The user needs to enter data into a form in one page and confirm it on another. Session variables seem like the easiest, but I'm afraid of crashing the server after deploying with a few hundred users as opposed to just a few developers/testers. Any ideas?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
