Website Page Cannot be Found Error

I encountered a very odd error this afternoon. A website that has been in
production for quite some time suddenly came up with a page cannot be found
on the main index.aspx page for the site. 5 mins previosly, the user had been
using the site fine...running a long query on the page whose timeout values
are set very high. As soon as I encountered this error, I tried to refresh
the page - no success. I went to to a neighbors pc and loaded the site fine.
I then went back to the problem pc, logged the user off and logged in as me -
page loaded fine. Then logged back in as problem user - page did not load.
Clearly a error specific to one user....but not sure why?

I could ping the production box fine and the problem pc had access to other
asp.net web sites hosted by the same IIS instance. My guess is that there
must be some time of process on IIS that is preventing the user from
accessing this website - like a sandbox or a deadlock issue that is
protecting the box from this user? Very odd....I have been doing web
development for 8 years, never encountered this issue before.

Oh, and the server's event log....empty. And I did a iisreset on the box and
the user still cannot access site.

Must be an issue with the user accessing this one web app? Where should I
look?
The error was non-application specific, just the general white generic page
not found message.

I appreciate any suggestions/comments.

I have a 10mb ASP file, which will not load in IE 6.0. I get an HTTP 500 error. When I convert the 10mb file to HTML, it loads fine. Is there a limitation on file size? If so, is there a tag I can place at the top of the page to override the size limitation? Thanks.

I have a C# asp.net webform with a Link Button to a website but it's not opening the website correctly. It's saying "The page cannot be found". But the website is loading when I use IE. Below is the code and thanks in advance. private void lbtnWebsite_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { string script = "<script language=\"javascript\">"; script += "var target = '_blank';"; script += "window.open('ActiveVendors.aspx', 'target',...

I can't make this script work properly. I've gone as far as I can with it and the rest is out of my ability. I can do some html editing but I'm lost in the Java world. The script at the bottom of the html page controls the form fields that are required. It doesn't function like it's supposed to and I can leave all the fields blank and it still submits the form. Also I can't get it to transfer the file in the upload section. The file name...

I recently upgraded to from Visual Studio .NET 2003 to Visual Studio .NET 2005. In Visual Studio .NET 2003 when I would select 'Build' it would add a *.dll with the name of the Project to a /bin/ folder in the same directory as the source code. However, in Visual Studio .NET 2005 when I selected 'Publish Web Site' and selected a target location to place it in, it placed the following files in it: All *.aspx files All *.html files

I am moving a classic ASP website on a 32 bit server to an ASP.NET 2.0 website on a 64 bit server. I very much need to port the Adobe Acrobat FDF sdk to the new site, but I've run in to the dreaded "Retrieving the COM clas factory for component with CLSID {..} failed due to the following error: 80040154" error message. Any suggestions on what to do next would be greatly appreciated. The sdk has two libraries, a main one that can be...

What, from a high level point of view, is the difference (in Visual Studio 2005) between Website (accessed with Open Website or Create Website from the StartPage) that is an ASP.NET Website, and a Project that is created with the "ASP.NET Application" template? I see some obvious differences: the Project creates the working folder under the Visual Studio 2005\Projects directory, while the Website creates it in the Inetpub\wwwroot...

Hi, I have written some code in C# to programmatically create a website and an application pool. Both seems to be getting created alright with whatever settings I have applied. However, when I fire a request to the website, I get a "page can not be displayed" message". I get nothing in the event viewer logs. I read somewhere that from website properties Home Directory Application Settings, if I remove and recreate the application pool,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
