I have a page I created that says "Session setting up, please wait...". I
use this page to setup all the information needed for the users session
(this could take 10 seconds or so).
The problem I'm having is that the page never displays.
Is there a way to get the page to display? I tried doing my setup in the
Page_Load and after do a Response.Redire ct to the page they need. 2 1001
Hi Joe,
That is not exactly an easy task to accomplish but the Microsoft Patterns
and Practices group has published some good articles to help with this. You
will need to use asynchronous programming and here are a couple of links to
help you out.

In first page you should just display the message " session setting up,
please wait". Then redirect to some other page where you need to do that
long running operation.

I am new to php and need some help getting the session variables into
include files. (after-thought, Sorry for the drawn out post but I
really, really need help....;)
Here's what I'm doing..
I have a php request_form that I use 2 different ways: by itself (url
directly to the form) and as an include to be displayed in existing
php pages. This form uses POST to another php_script that performs
serverside validation and db write. If all...

hi all
i need some clarification on how the php session work in relation to
cookies.
we have a web site where users need to log in. a few of our users were
having troubles with their browser clients having different levels of
cookie security settings. i assumed a solution would be to have the php
site use the session only, and set session.use_cookies to 0 in the
php.ini file. after doing this, the session no longer persits after

Here is a very interesting scenario.
I have a simple test application that loads a page and sets a session
variable on the load event. On the first page there is a link to a second
page. The load event of the second page displays the value of the session
variable.
The problem is that when I use a W2k machine, this little test works
perfect. Session variable value is displayed on the second page. However,
when I use my XPPro...

I had this idea about preventing session fixation, and I'm wondering
what anyone else thinks about it. The idea is, essentially, don't
allow session ids that YOUR PHP didn't generate (and aren't yet
expired) to log in. That way if someone sticks a made-up session
ID on a URL, it won't matter, unless it happens to correspond to
an active session (guessing a user password is probably easier).
Is this already standard practice, new, or is...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
