Hello all,
I am writing a script where I need to use the system() function to call
htpasswd. I can do this just fine on the command line...works great
(see attached file, test.php). When my webserver runs that part of the
script (see attached file, snippet.php), though, it doesn't go through.
I don't get an error message or...

Tell me if my assertion is wrong here:
The only way to prevent session hijacking is to NEVER store
authentication information (such as name/password) in the session.
Well, to never authenticate a user from information you got from the
session. Each secure app on a site must challenge the user for name
and password, each and every time the...

Hello All,
I have been working on this for almost a week now and I haven't anything up
my sleeves anymore that I could test in addition or change....
Since I am not sure, if this is a Windows 2003 Server or ADO or ODBC issue,
I am posting this on all of the three newsgroups.
That's the setup:
Windows 2003 Server with IIS and ASP.NET...

Does anyone know if there is a way to check the access
permissions of different users using C#? I need to know
if a user has full control or if they have read only
access or none to a certain directory. I have seen
different ways to set the permissions but none to read
them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I use this function that I wrote for inputting strings. It's meant to
return a pointer to mallocated memory holding one input string, or 0 on
error. (Personally, I prefer to use 0 to NULL when returning null
pointers.) It looks pretty watertight to me, but my version of lint
complains about use of deallocated pointers, etc. Is this code...

Hello All,
Our application write logs to a file in a folder. Before our application
starts writing to that file, I want to check if the current user has write
access to that file, for example, "c:\temp\LogFile.txt".
I see several articles for setting file access permissions, getting file
access permissions for a given user or current user -...

I am trying to adopt a model for calling functions and checking their return
values. I'm following Scott Meyer's recommendation of not over-using
exceptions because of their potential overhead.
Here's the approach I'm currently looking at. I throw exceptions only from
constructors. Destructors, of course, do not throw exceptions. All...

I am using this code to get groups for a user and getting a error (5) on the
GetAuthorizationGroups() function .
There are two domains.
This function works on the local domain but does not work on the other domain.
Other functions work on the other domain like get all the users and get all
the groups and I can validate users on the other...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
