creating a crystal report using a dataset as the datasource.

Not sure if I am posting this to the correct group but
I have a .NET web application and have a datagrid that is filled with a
dataset. The data comes from a stored procedure that returns several records
from a database that is called from the web application.
I want the application to create a crystal report using the data source that
is used for the data grid, from the same dataset, or the output of the stored
procedure.
Just wondering if there is an example of how to do this anywhere?
Thanks Paul.

I have recently created a report in crystal(10) linking to a dataset as the datasource. I notice however that the fields available in the report all have STRING format and therefore i cannot change format in crystal(10) e.g. I wish to change a date field to have the format dd/MM/yyyy. The main problem here is that the dataset seems to store data only as string. Is there anyway i can avoid this. Many thanks,

I need your HELP! I've seen all the posts on using Crystal Reports within vs.net (vb.net) and changing a SQL query at runtime. When I tried to pass in a dataset into the crystal report at runtime, the report still showed the results from the default query (from within the Crystal Report). Then I tried the XSD solution where you define a dataset (that mataches the database and the Crystal Report) and have the Crystal Report use this....

Hello, i need help regarding using Crystal reports in C#. I don't want to populate my Dataset/Datatable through database. I have used a Datatable and also a dataset as DataSource for CR. but it didn't help much... in case of DataTable, it throws an exception "Error in File <.rpt File Name>: Invalid Table Number" and in case of Dataset containing same datatable in it.. it doesn't throw an exception, but it doesn't show anything either.......

Problem: My company generates its own data export from a propietary database. These (free) tables can be read in C#.NET using a Visual FoxPro driver (vfpoledb). I can read each of the six tables into its own datatable, modify them, and add them to a dataset. It take approximately 15 minutes to pass that dataset to Crystal Reports (45 minutes if the report uses three subreport datasets). Then it takes over 7 hours for Crystal to...

I've been stuck on a problem now for ages and i'm about ready to pack my project in because of it lol. OK here is my scenario. I have an existing Crystal Report, which I have added to my solution and published it as a webservice. This report takes it data from an SQL server on another machine. The user will have a windows form in a little app i'm writing where it has a

Maybe this is an easy thing to do, but I'm just not seeing how it's done (or at least how it's done properly). I have a web service running on a remote machine which returns a DataSet. I can easily write an xsd file to define that DataSet, if need be. Now, on a local Windows Forms application, I need to have a CrystalReportViewer open up a Crystal Report which needs to get its data from that Web Service. How would this be done? It's...

I am trying to populate a Crystal Report from data in my DataGrid. The reason for this is that I want the user to be able to change values without updating the database, but still have their report reflect the values they anticipate committing to see hypothetical totals of columns from a set of records. These records are displaying properly on my DataGrid but I'm not sure how to get Crystal Reports 10 to use as its datasource the dataset...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
