I've noticed that session variables will persist on Mac IE even after all
browser windows have been closed. One must quit the program to clear the
session variables. This presents a security risk for my session variable
based security scheme.
Basically, the risk is that a user will login to my site, close the window
when done and allow someone else to come up to the machine, go back to my
site and be logged into the previous user's...

I am losing Session variables, but only those that are set in the page
previous to a redirect to a secure page.
Anyone seen ANY situation where Session variables just "disappear?"
Note that OTHER session variables are still intact !?!
TIA,

Hi,
I'm new to .NET and have a question about the use of static variables vs.
session variables in a web form in C#.
Instead of using a session variable to hold a string to persist during
datagrid paging. Can I use a static variable? Also, if I use a static
variable is that variable shared by everyone that brings up the aspx page?
Ex, if 4 people are viewing the aspx page is an instance of the static
variable created for each of the...

Hi all
I've got a .Net site that has 3 session variables...the variables should persist over 23 unique insert pages, 23 update, and 23 "view total" pages...
And the problem is once I get past one page, the session vars disappear
The logic is
1. logon = set a session var to the email addres
2. redirect to a "main page" that uses the email sess var in a query to get the UserID in the database
This is successful because I have the user id...

Ok, I know that .net inherently does not share session data across asp.net
projects, but is there any decent work around to this.
We already have a big chunk of our application using the asp.net session
object (using state service). I'd like to start breaking out
our functionality into component projects, but I'd like to get this session
issue worked out first.
Any ideas??
I found this article , but it sounds like kind of a pain.

Hello:
My problem is that in my login page, I authenticate the user and set a
session variable:
Session("strname") = dr("userlname") & ", " & dr("userfname") & " "
& dr("usermi")
FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(lngID, False)
and then redirect to another page. On that page, when I try:
Response.Write(Session("strname"))
Response.Write(Page.User.Identity.Name)

I have an ASP application. It instantiaties some COM components and we put
those COM components in Session variables...COM components have license
restrictions...We have written new ASPX page ( for better GUI and faster
development) and we will be using that ASPX page along with our ASP
application...how can I pass that Session variable (which holds COM
instance) to ASPX page so that I will be working on same instance and will
not consume...

Some ASP.NET applications use Session Variables extensively to maintain
state.
These should be re-written to use viewstate, hidden fields, querystring,
etc. instead.
This is because if a user opens a new IE window with Ctrl-N or
File-New-Window, BOTH WINDOWS SHARE THE SAME SESSION VARIABLES. This cannot
be prevented.

Hello again all,
I've finished my whole application and now I don't like the whole
session variables that I am using. I have a form, user fills in info
clicks submit and using CDOSYSMail an email link gets created with an
encoded query string. i.e
http://www.yahoo.ca?#$@%@&#%#$@&^@%# which translates into
http://www.yahoo.ca?userID=54&LocationID=Denver.
Now when the user get's this email and clicks on the link I have a

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
