ASP.NET on Win2K/XP Pro (NOT server)...

ok....... this may seem like a simple question, but I'm seeing several
articles that "hint" you can run ASP.NET apps on Win2k Pro and WinXP Pro.
Is this true? If so where is there an article/info that outlines what needs
to be distrib/installed to get that to work correctly on a non-server OS?

The answer is "yes." You can run ASP.Net on any Windows OS at or after
Windows 2000 that has IIS. Requirements:

1. .Net Platform installed.
2. IIS installed.
3. ASP.Net installed on IIS.

Hello, I am trying to debug an issue with sessions in my ASP 3.0 web application, which runs fine on WIN2K Pro and WINXP Pro, yet fails to function correctly on WIN2K Advanced Server. My actual application is using sessions to store username, and security level (permissions) for my application. The default.asp page is the login, where these values are set. I have triple and quadruple checked my IIS Settings to make sure "Enable...

Hello all, I've got a VERY strange network problem with Win2k Server and .NET. I've got one central server (hub) getting raw binary data (files) from many locations. Both server and clients are written in C# The server is quite simple: two threads, one accepts new connections and decides whether the client is authenticated to send data or not, and the other thread serves already connected clients: performs a Socket.Select and then...

Hi folks, I'm after some guidelines on general memory allocations for DB2 8.2.2 ESE on Win2k Server FP4 with 4gb physical memory. Seeing as everything is 32bit and win2k server does not support /3gb switch, we are restricted memory wise for allocating memory to db2syscs.exe to around 1.75gb so I understand, what are the general rules of thumb for assigning memory ?

Hi, I`m in the process of migrating a Access 2002 (Run in 2000 mode) from Windows 98 to Win2K Server. It is a shared resource via a file share on the 98 Server. Client systems are Win98 with the shared drive mounted and the application run via the shared drive. I have tried once before, but came across some file locking issues. I thought i had addressed these file locking issues, but it came apparent I hadn't when data started to get...

This is somewhat of a strange issue. Allow me to detail it as much as I can. We use the Blackboard Transaction System (BTS) for all students dinning services. The "ENVISION" server is Running Windows 2003 Server with Oracle 8+. All clients/registers are NCR Windows-based devices with the BTS system installed. They all come pre-imaged from Blackboard. They are spread across multiple VLANs within our robust (class B) network, spread across...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
