Is there a way to prevent a page postback from being added to the browser
history without using SmartNavigation?
I'd like to be able to do this in a cross-browser compatible way (modern
standards-compliant browsers).
I've seen tons of articles on how to maintain scroll position and focus, but
what about this other feature of SmartNavigation?
Anyone know of a base page class that could accomplish this? Or do I have to
wait for Whidbey?

SmartNavigation is supposed to keep the page's last state
in the browser history. As far as I can tell, it doesn't
do that if you use Response.Redirect to change to another
page.
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
1. Create a new webform with one WebControls.TextBox and
two WebControls.Button-Controls "Do nothing" and "Jump".

Each time a webform is posted back (submitted), another URL is added to the browser's history list. My web application allows a back button to return to previously visited pages, but I do not wish to return to each Postback URL, but rather only the initial page URL. Is there a way to prevent Postback URL's from being added to the browser's history list
Thanks in advance for any help.

of the error message or where should I put the error message (top or

Has anyone found a reasonable way to emulate smartnavigation functionality
for any browser? I'd really like to avoid creating history entries when
posting back to the same page.
SmartNavigation takes care of the annoying problem caused by creating a new
history entry when a page posts to itself. Only Internet Explorer will
support this functionality. When SmartNavigation is enabled the client
executes javascript code from the SmartNav.js...

Hi, I need to prevent Internet Explorer to save the page in history
collection when it is in PostBack.
To try do this I have put this code:
protected override void OnLoad( EventArgs evt)
{
if (IsPostBack)
Response.Cache.SetNoStore();
.....
base.OnLoad( evt);

I have encountered a very strange problem that makes it look like the page
is not recreated in entirety after a postback when I turn on
smartnavigation.
If I click on a server control, the page is returned blank. I have a
JavaScript routine displaying a session countdown in the browser statusbar
that continues counting without resetting as it normally would after a
postback. An error icon is displayed in the browser statusbar after the...

I have turned on smartnavigation=True for some of the forms in my .NET
application. It seemed to be working fine on Windows 2000 SP4, which also has
VS 2003 installted, but when I moved the application to window 2003
production evnironment, the Smartnavigation stopped working.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ashhad.

Is there any way to prevent a ButtonField in a GridView from doing a
postback when clicked? I want to use my own onclick handler to call
window.open('SomePage.aspx') to display a page in a new browser window when
the button is clicked.
I tried doing this in the RowCommand postback event by doing this in the
event handler:
Response.Write("<script>window.open('SomePage.aspx');</script>");

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
