Site root folder issue

Hi

We have the html portion of our site in the site root folder on a remote
site hosted with a web hosting company. I am now trying to add some asp.net
bits to the site but in trying to keep these separate from the main site, I
have copied the asp.net files into a sub folder under the root. The problem
is that I am having problems with the web.config file when running the
asp.net main aspx page, as presumably the web.config file needs to be in the
root folder of a site. What is it that I can do? Should I ask my web hosting
company to set some settings to make asp.net files think that they are in
the root folder? Something else?

Thanks

Regards

What specific error messages are you getting? Is the subfolder enabled
in IIS to be an ASP.NET Application?

I'm having some problems getting my latest aberration going, and I
believe that my problem is that I renamed a directory that was
enabled, and now it doesn't work. My ISP seems to have gone on holiday
or something, so I don't have any solid info yet ...

I am in the process of moving a site from one hosting company to another. This site is fairly large, with hundreds of asp files, each with multiple "include" statements. The new host has a different webspace folder structure for it's clients than the old host. At the moment, this is forcing me to have to append all the paths for all the include statements (not to mention all the other path-related code) to make things work. Example:

I have a need for a site-absolute path specifier (server side). My issue is that I have pages w/ graphics in the banners (whee!), but the pages are at different levels of the folder hierarchy. Lastly, the entire site may or may *not* be at the website root, it all depends on how it was installed. So, to reference the graphics, I need a way to specify the location of the graphic in a way that doesn't break. Something like:

I need to read/write .jpg files in a folder *above* the current site's root. If MapPath is the way to go, then how can I reference the desired folder as relative to the current site's root (I don't want to hard-code the path from the C:\root folder.) For example, suppose I need to write to the WriteHere folder: C:\SomeFolder\WriteHere and the site root is MySiteRoot:

I'm having just a bit of trouble wrapping my brain around the task of working with folders that are above the site's root folder. I let users upload photos (.jpg/.gif files) which can subsequently be viewed on the site's pages. My hosting provider is requiring that any files my Web app writes get written to a folder that is above the app's root folder (for security purposes). When writing the files I understand how to use MapPath to...

I have an asp.net app that is in a folder which is two levels under the website root folder. The website has a login.aspx which is in the root folder. How do I get the relative path to the web site root folder (not the curent app folder)? A generic one that works no matter how deep the folder is in the folder heirarchy --

I have a series of web applications (configured as separate applications) on a server. There is a main application at the root and then several virtual directories that are independant applications. I am testing an upgrade of all of the sites and have converted the main root site...although not necessarily fixed any issues. I move on instead and converted one of the virtual roots that is a seperate

This file is the aspx.vb page of the page I am loading which in the published site has been renamed to App_Web_50e5-xmr.dll and placed into the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
