datagrid moving rows

I have populated a datagrid with the contents on an XML file.

I have created 2 buttons on my form "Move Up" and "Move Down". I would like
these buttons to physically move a row up and down the datagrid. Then I
would like to resave the contents of this grid to an XML file with the order
of the rows preserved in the grid.

Basically, I want to be able to sort the items in my XML file via the
datagrid, so when I load the XML file elsewhere the items are in the order I
have specified.

I am not very strong on my XML skills, but I would image that I need to
either somehow manipulate the existing XML DOM object and resave that,
rebind the grid so it picks up the changes, or create a brand new XML DOM
object, populating this with the contents of the grid, and then rebinding
the grid.

Can someone please give me some pointers/examples of what it is I need to
do. Thanks.

I have a DataGrid on the left and TextBoxes (TB) on the right. The TB's reflect the contents of the grid cells. Sorting of columns (both thru VS and programmatically) work fine except, when the form/grid first opens up and the grid is immediately sorted the TB don't reflect the sorted data of the First row of the grid. Note: Initially the black grid indicator arrow points to the first row. If the user choses another row and then sorts...

I realised that if I use datagrid and datasource is a datatable, when I created a new row and while on that row I exit the datagrid (ie. without moving into the next row) and focus onto another control, that new row is not recorded (check it at the datagrid.validating event). However, if I use down arrow key to move to the next row (without keying any data) and exit, the new row is recorded in the datatable. can anyone please advise if I...

Hi, I have been working with datagrids a lot in the past two weeks and I am running across a lot of problems. Maybe there is no way around these problems but I hope there are and someone out there can advise me on how to do it. 1. The biggest problem I am finding is that the datagrid does not update the datagrid.datasource very well. When a new row is created in the datagrid it may or may not be created in the datasource as

I have been watching the dotnet newsgroups for a couple of weeks now and scouring the net looking for a solution to my datagrid find functionality. With no luck. I am hoping that you can help me. I am an old VB6 coder used to using Sheridan controls, and I am just starting to learn the .net world. I am upgrading my music catalogue database, where the data is stored in an Access mdb file.

I have a DataGrid control for which I have also created several new extended DataGridColumnStyles. They behave pretty nicely, but I can't figure out how to implement Selected Item formatting for them. In a plain vanilla DataGrid, when you click on the RowHeader, the appropriate row changes colors. I ASSUME this should be done in the Paint (or PaintText) override of the DataGridColumnStyle in question. My problem is that I don't know...

Hi, I need to build an editable Datagrid with add & delete buttons on each row using javascript. DataGrid need not be pre-populated with values. To make the thing complicated, one of the column need to be a date picker field. I know things will be easier with ASPX datagrid.

Ok, We've got a bunch of apps that we've migrated from Net 1.0 to Net 2.0. The apps were basically upgraded using the VS2005 migrate. The user control that was using a DataGrid.IsSelected(i) in the original (Net 1.0) to find the 'Highlighted' rows in a datagrid is working fine. I've tried adding the DataGrid.IsSelected(i) code into a second migrated app to find the 'Highlighted' rows. In the 2nd program the

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
