Hi guys,
I'm confused when creating a virtual directory on my test environment.
1. If I create the virtual directory manually, it lets me modify the "Local
Path", by using either the Browse button or the textbox.
2. When I create an ASP.NET aplication that option is unavailable.
How was the Duwamish 7.0 project built?
I need to change the virtual directory name
TIA,

If you create the virtual directory first, and then create the ASP.NET
application, specifying the virtual directory, you should be ok.

Is there a way to avoid creating the virtual directory first & then use
that one, when creating the VS.NET web app?
It should be straight forward, or a parameter or something.
But as you said, it worked fine that way.
tks

I have a virtual directory where all posted files are stored.
The ASP app does not have rights to the share on the other server where the
vir dir resides.
What is the best way to give the asp app the rights to post files to the vir
dir.
Thanks

I have a problem and I've been using a cheezy work around and was
wondering if anyone else out there has a better solution.
The problem:
Let's say I have a web application appA. Locally, I set it up as
C:\domains\appA. Locally, my IIS root points to C:\domains. I don't
point it to C:\domains\appA since if I have an appB under C:\domains I
wouldn't be able to get to it. So to access it via my browser I go to
localhost/appA.

I am using VS.NET 2005 beta 2. When I run my project locally using the
default ASP.NET Development Web Server it runs using a root address like
this:
http://localhost:11243/testsite/
However when I deploy to a remote test server running real IIS, the real
root of my application becomes:
http://localhost/
What I want to do is have it so that on my local machine the asp.net dev

Hi -
I'm currently using the FileUpload control to allow people to upload
files to my website. This all works fine, as long as I'm going to a
physical path on my server.
However, I need to allow people to upload to a virtual directory. The
directory may or may not exist on the same server as the Web site.
I can't seem to figure out how to do this. If I pass the virtual

I have an ASP.NET app that must allow users to upload files. The files are
stored in a virtual directory. I use Server.MapPath to map from the virtual
directory name to a physical path, then the FileUpload control SaveAs method
to upload and save the file.
This all works fine when the virtual directory points to a local drive on
the ASP.NET server. However, when pointing to a remote drive (which is what
my client wants to do), I get...

Hi,
I created a new directory on my WinXP-Pro/SP2 file system. Then I
created a virtual directory in IIS pointing to that local directory.
After completing that, I noticed that I had a mispelling in the name
of the parent directory of that local directory.
I "improved" the situation by creating a correctly-spelled peer of that
parent directory. Then I dragged my new local directory from its
misspelled parent to the correctlyl...

Hello,
Have MS 2003 server with IIS 6.0 installed. ASP.net is also
installed.
Had to re-install the server after initial configuration by someone who left
the company and now I cannot get the ASP pages to load.
The files all existed in a NON-INETPUB folder and accessed a SQL database to
pull information.

I'm confused about paths.
I have a functionn that uses the mappath method, which I think requires a
virtual path (is that the same as a relative path?).
But this doesn't always work as the path can take the form of the following:
1. /directory/images/xyz.gif (works fine)
2. http://localhost:1234/www.mytestwebsite.com/directory/images/xyz.gif
(doesn't work)
3. http:///www.someremotesite.com/directory/images/abc.gif (doesn't work)

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
