Functions of FormsAuthentica tionTicket

I read from some site to learn the form authentication with AD that it needs
to create a FormsAuthentica tionTicket to store the group list. I want to
that what is the function of FormsAuthentica tionTicket?? is it a must to
create those ticket if I need to get the user's group list??? If I only want
to authenticate the username and password with AD, do I need to create the
FormsAuthentica tionTicket???

Forms Authentication always creates a FormsAuthentica tionTicket. The only
question is whether or not you create it manually and therefore can access
it yourself for your own purposes.

If you do nothing special, a FormsAuthentica tionTicket is created with a
UserData property set to null. If you create one manually, you get the
opportunity to set UserData to a list of groups. You would then encrypt the
FormsAuthentica tionTicket, and set the value of the forms authentication
cookie to the encrypted ticket.

Subsequently, on the next page request, your AuthenticateReq uest handler in
global.asax will be able to get access to the decrypted
FormsAuthentica tionTicket. This will give you access to your list of groups.

Hi I have implemented a system of Role-based Security with Forms Authentication in my website which retrieves a comma separated list of user roles via a SQL Server stored procedure. The system all works fine except for one part. If I log into the system, I get authenticated as expected. If I then close my browser, change the "Username" and "Password" values in the database and revisit the website, I still get authenticated

Thanks in advance for any info... Using web services, I am authenticating users and returning a valid FormsAuthenticationTicket as a string, with an expiration of 20 minutes. This is all fine and good. However, I would like to extend the expiration each time the ticket is accessed. I found the FormsAuthentication.RenewTicketIfOld method, but it won't allow me to convert the string to a forms authentication ticket. Any ideas? Private...

Hi, guys, After I use FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie() to anthenticate a user, I don't think I need to create a new FormsAuthenticationTicket(), right? Then, at what situation, we should use ticket? Any reference papers? Thanks.

If I did something like that: FormsAuthenticationTicket ticket = new FormsAuthenticationTicket(ID, false, 20); then add the ticket encrypting it to the cookie collection, shouldn't the cookie be deleted for each new session of the application? Session isn't equal to start a new debug, leaving opened the browser while testing?

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
