not redirecting to login page while using forms authentication

Hello All,

I have a problem in my project. I have used forms authentication and code is embedded in web.config.
<authenticati on mode="Forms">

<forms name="AuthCooki e" path="/" loginUrl="login .aspx" protection="All ? timeout="120? >

</forms>

</authentication>

If I am trying to check for the session timeout. Coockie\s get disabled and session is timed out( detected because i am not able to access the session variables- values are lost) but the user is not redirected to the login.aspx.

While it's working perfect if you create a new project.

Can anyone suggest the workaround.

thanks

Pradeep

Hi All, I have an ASP.NET application to which I have implemented forms authentication to handle security. It is a relatively straight forward solution with all aspx pages residing in the root folder. The issue I am experiencing is that when the authentication time out is activated and the user is hence unauthenticated, the browser window is on sometimes redirecting back to the login page. When the browser does or doesn't redirect to...

Hi, Based on the session timeout, session will be expired. Timebeing , we are manually checking in the each page, whether the session is expired or not, If so,we are redirecting to common login page. Is it possible to avoid it by specifying the common login page in the web.config file? if so , can you send the relevant sample please? Thanks,

Is it possible to use forms authentication in the web.config file and FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage with an asp page so that when the asp page is set to startup page on the project that a redirection will go to the login page and allowing the authentication to occur before going to the asp page. I have an asp page that I want to redirect to after authenticating and if I set the asp as the startup page it starts up with that...

Hi, I've come across this scenario in ASP.NET 1.1 with forms authentication where the forms auth doesn't seem to timeout correctly, nor redirect to the login page. I have done some testing, and I believe I've found a solution, but I would like some insight from Microsoft on whether the code I've implemented is correct, and why it is even working. Here is my scenario:

Greetings, I have encountered what appears to be a fairly common problem: RedirectFromLoginPage is not redirecting to RedirectUrl. I have tried all the advice that I could on the 'net, and nothing has worked yet. My problem is very simple. I want to redirect from a login page to the default page in one application. I am not crossing over to other applications in other directories on the server. Here is a description of the problem:

I have built a web app. While testing I have found that if I browse to a page in the app, then get redirected to the login page and enter my credentials. The FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage call is redirecting to the default.aspx page rather than the original page the user was at. Here is the details of my application: Web.config: <authentication mode="Forms">

I have a web app that contains forms authentication to protect subdirectory called "admin" by denying anonymous users. When I request a protected resource in the admin directory I am presented with a Windows logon dialog prompt instead of being redirected to the logon page. In the web.config it is setup as follows: <configuration> <system.web> .... <authentication mode="Forms">

Hi All, I am facing this very weird issue, for every server request my control is redirecting to the login page and again coming back to the actual page from where the request was initiated when I set my custom Remember be cookie on the login page. Following are the details: 1. Authentication mode is ‘Forms’ 2. This issue is reproducible only in deployed applications, I found this using my trace and remote debugging 3. This issue occurs...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
