Wanted: User Agent\Post Platform registry file showing the .Net extensions

I need:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MAC HINE\SOFTWARE\M icrosoft\Window s\CurrentVersio n\Internet
Settings\User Agent\Post Platform"

registry entries for a .Net V.1.0 and .Net V.1.1 enabled browser.

Mine got erased and is now affecting Visual Studio .Net 7 & 7.1

My IIS web log reports the following:

"Mozilla/4.0+(compatible ;+MSIE+6.0;+Win dows+NT+5.0)"

......but it's missing the .Net extensions

Also, I'm not sure if the value:

[HKEY_CURRENT_US ER\Software\Mic rosoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Internet
Settings]
"User Agent"="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Win32)"

........is ever actually read or used.

I just checked my User Agent setting and found "value not set".
That's with MSIE 6.0 running on a PC with Visual Studio .NET and IIS, all
fully functional.
We need (I'd guess) to find somebody else who uses Mozilla to provide a key
setting.

On the off chance that what is troubling you is not the result of the User
Agent setting, can you describe the problem(s) you are experiencing and the
symptoms?

I'm trying to build a binary of fastaudio (the wrapper for the PortAudio library, from http://www.freenet.org.nz/python/pyPortAudio/) for Python 2.3. There's a lot of FAQs and the like out there that give some simple directions, involving fetching the .net sdk from MSDN and distutils "should work" - however, when I follow them and try to do the setup.py build step, I get a message: error: Python was built with version 6 of Visual Studio,...

The good news: Along with Python-2.4 comes really good news to Windows users. Yes, you now CAN build extension modules yourself using the SAME C++ compiler and linker Python is built with itself. Everything you need is available at no costs (except download hassle and installation time). Once your system is set up properly its just a matter of running 'python setup.py build'. No longer waiting for someone else to build binaries and a...

I would like to use something like .x rather than .aspx for my asp.net projects. One reason is, I'd rather everyone not know what language/platform our projects are written in. (I like security AND obscurity on our site.) Right now it is trivial to use Google to find all pages using asp.net, with a google search for .aspx files. If an exploit comes out for .net stuff, Google becomes a hacker's tool to locate pages to exploit quite easily....

What is the current preferred way to save user preferences in dotnet? Is the registry the right place to do this? Can anyone recommend a good article (or book) for this topic? Thanks.

Is there a way, through VB.NET, to determine if the user has selected this option? I am writing an application that does some string functions to rename files, and the file names get chopped up if the expected extension is not returned. I can write another function to get around this, but if there is a clean way to determine the state of that toggle I would rather do that. I may need this again in the future and don't want to always...

Hi All! This really is a file permissions problem ... although I'm not sure how to solve it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have a series of load balanced servers. Each of the servers is arranged exactly the same and handles file uploads from users as follows: 1) User submits file to www1 server

How do you retrieve a file path which was stored in the Registry as a string without ending up with a string which has all the slashes escaped which make it useless for file IO? I can see the file path in the registry using RegEdit and it is exactly what I want, but when I use: string filePath = Registry.GetValue(keyPath, keyName, null).ToString(); filePath is something like C:\\Data\\MyFile.txt when I need it to be...

I was looking for the easiest way to add an item to explorer's right click menus, and I found what looks to be a goldmine. There is a vb.net project available on: http://www.mvps.org/emorcillo/en/code/shell/shellextensions.shtml that encapsulates the ugly stuff and gives an easy way to make the dll explorer will look for as the extension handler. Only problem is, I don't see how it "runs". All the other progs to do shell extensions are...

Hi, I just started a new web developer job (my first actually) and the machine they gave me to use is a Mac. Two days in and I'm running a Win XP environment on my Mac at work (using VMWare), firstly so I can use my favourite text editor (ConTEXT) which is only available for windows and secondly because I've never used a Mac before. But what do you think is the best all round development platform that I should use as a Web Developer?...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
