Thread was being aborted in Response.Redire ct

GSK
I am logging the following error when re-directing via Response.Redire ct:

"Thread was being aborted

at System.Threadin g.Thread.AbortI nternal() at
System.Threadin g.Thread.Abort( Object stateInfo) at
System.Web.Http Response.End() at System.Web.Http Response.Redire ct(String
url, Boolean endResponse) at ..."

It doesn't interfere with the functionality and is transparent, and the only
reason I know it is tripped is because I write the errors to a log.

I am doing some processing in my code-behind, and after processing simply
re-direct to the next page. Is there a proper way of ending things before
re-directing?

I have used the boolean parameter for ending the thread, but it seems to
have no effect.

Thanks,

gsk

this is normal, Response.End() is implemented as a thread abort.

I'm trying to response.redirect to another page on a button click event and I get an error message stating that the thread was being aborted (if I trap for the error that is...) I've researched this a bit and see that this error is supposed to happen in response.redirect, but it's not in a Try Catch statement for me so I don't know why it won't perform the redirect When the button is clicked the page is simply reloaded with a white screen,...

Hi, I have an asp.net web app that is intermittently throwing "Thread was being aborted." errors in my data access component. This seems to occur when the app is under a heavier than normal load. I don't get any of these errors for days, then I get a bunch all at once. I would have thought if the database call was timing out I would get a timeout error. The server is Win 2003 (under VMware), and hosts multiple asp and asp.net web...

I have been googling and cannot seem to find the answer I seek so I turn to the group. I have an application where I have been receiving 'Thread was being aborted' error ocasionally. In production I have received it at least 3 times in 45 days. It is sporadic. After some searching, I can rule out the most likely suspects. It is NOT happening because of a Reponse.Redirect, which seems to be the most common in the posts I have seen. I...

Hello, I have a page that is supposed to do some checking, and if OK, set a session variable before redirecting to another page. The following code is a simplified version, I have hard-coded the basket ID and removed a load of extra checking... public partial class GoToCheckout : Page { public void Page_Load(Object o, EventArgs e) { try {

Howdy, I have an error mod in my app that emails me whenever there is an error. I use try..catch to capture the error. It works great, I love it, except for this one minor issue. Whenever there is a script that processes some data then issues a response.redirect() I get "Thread was being aborted" emailed to me. Below is an example of a script of where the error is occuring. It doesn't affect the end user at all, but I just keep getting...

Hi all, I have a user control which raises an event to the parent page when a person clicks on a link in a datagrid. In the event handler inside the parent page I construct a url to redirect to containing information sent from the datagrid. It all works fine on my local machine but when I send it to the live server I receive "The thread was being aborted" Doing some googling suggested that I use

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
