Searching a website with Indexing Server

Z D
Hello,

I've installed and setup MS indexing service on my webserver (IIS v6). It
seems to work fine as basic searches are indeed working.

The problem, however, is that indexing service does not seem to be looking
at the META keywords defined at the top of my pages (html and aspx):

<META name="keywords" content="....">
I was wondering how I'd go about configuring indexing service to take into
account those keywords? It doesnt seem to be looking at that section of my
pages at all since if I put a word in "content" that doesn't appear on the
page at all then that page is never listed when I do a search on that word!

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,

thanks!

Hello, I have a problem with a small asp-solution that searches for PDF-documents with indexing service. For some files in the search result I get gibberish returned, such as ****************************************************** I$OYDURSURGXFWVSURGXFHGLQ0H[LFR/DERUDWRU\5HSRUW/DERUDWRU\2UGHUHU5HVSRQVLEOH6 WDWXV)HPLQLQH*27-RKDQVVRQ6XVDQQH)LQDO'DWH)LQDO3URMHFW3URMHFW1DPH&RVWSODFH9HU

I read that there are some tags that can be entered in a web page's meta tags in order to prevent web bot searching and indexing of the web page for search engines. What is the tagging that I would need to use?

Hi, I'm hoping to rearchitect a website using asp.net. I was wondering about how a site level search(for visitors) would work if I was using some html includes, sql tables, and/or user controls. I don't think our current site search functionality could be used, what are some popular methods for asp.net driven websites? Thanks

Hey, I'm fussing around with a first attempt at using IIS6's indexing service for a web site search page. The trouble is, my site, while not using a database, is largely dynamic, with much of the content filled in with variables and includes, and index server only seems to index the actual code of each file, and not the contents as seen by web viewers. So if I have my default.asp file dynamically cobbled together by several other files,...

I am developing a Content Management System in ASP .NET with a SQL Server database. The main content is stored as HTML (still not sure if this is the way to go yet!) so that it is displayed on the page with formatting, which will be specified by the user when adding the content to a page. I am working on a search facility, which searches the main content against the search word/s entered. The problem is that the content contains HTML. It...

Hi. I am somewhat new to this and would like some advice. I want to search my xml file using "keyword" search and return results based on "proximity matching" - in other words, since the search string will often not produce a direct match, the results will be based on proximity (50%, 20% 100%, etc). are there any good examples out there on how to do keyword searches on XML data? How should i set up my xml file so

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
