Connecting to an existing web

In Interdev 6.0 you can connect to an existing web. I've
looked through the help and I haven't found a way to do
it. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Your message is confusing at best. Visual Interdev 6.0 is not a toolset for
doing ASP.Net. It is a tool that can be used with ASP 3.0. However, this is
an ASP.Net newsgroup. In addition, Visual Interdev 6.0 is NOT for use with
any .Net applications. So, when you say "I've looked through the help" I
don't know what help you are referring to. Visual Interdev 6.0? Some other
software you've neglected to mention? And when you say "I haven't found a
way to do it" what is "it?" Again, as this is not a Visual Interdev 6.0
newsgroup, I would have to assume that "it" is not referring to connecting
Visual Interdev 6.0 to an existing web site. Or maybe it is?

Well, you do it in VS.Net by creating a new ASP.Net Project, at the location
(URL) you specify on the local web server.

HOW TO: Connect to Existing ASP.NET Web Applications on the Remote Web Serve

That creates a new project with a new virtual directory.
I am trying to create a new project and connect it to an
existing virtual directory.

Thanks

It seems as though you can't connect to a Virtual Directory on a web
server. Just from my own tests, I can connect to an existing "subweb"
if its set up as a subweb, aka Server Extensions Web, but again not if
its set up as a virtual directory. When creating the project,
unfortunately you don't get that drop down listing all of the subwebs
you can connect to like you did in VS 6.0. In VS.NET you have to type
in the name of the subweb after the server.

After a lot of thought and research, and playing with FreeTDS and InlineTDS, as well as various ODBC connections, I have determined that the fastest and cheapest way to get up and going with PHP on Linux, connecting to MS SQL Server, unless it was already pre-installed by your Linux installation, is to build your own multithreaded TCP socket server on Windows and connect to it through the socket API in PHP on Linux (if you have installed...

Hi all, Very Basic Question here. I can create new ASP.NET sites using VS.NET 2003 on my server, but for some reason I can't figure out how to connect to an existing web, when there isn't already a solution or project file. In the old Visual Studio 6, you could create a new solution, connect to an existing server, and "download" all the existing code into your new solution. How do I do that in VS.NET 2003? In particular, I'm trying to...

Hi all, I would like to ask for some help regarding separating the asp.net webserver and the sql server. I have created an asp.net application for a certain company. Initially, we installed both the iis and sql server in a single machine. Not too long ago, the machine had some hardware problems, and management has decided to purchase new servers, for both asp.net and sql server.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
