Updating Database via Textbox input

Hello

I'm new to ASP.NET and am working on a web page where I have several textboxes that are bound to a table in a dataset. I'm able to query my SQL database, use a SQLAdapter to fill the table in my dataset, and correctly display the data on the web page. However, now I've reached the point where I need to allow the user to edit the textboxes and then save the values back to the SQL database. Do I need to manually take the textbox values and update the record myself? Also one thing I've noticed, after I fill my table in the dataset, even though the data is displayed on the screen when I check the dataset rows it says there are none in my table (this.MyDataSet .Tables["TABLE"].Rows.Count returns 0). Any suggestions on where I'm going wrong would be great, thanks!

Let's say I have an html form with 20 or 30 fields in it. The form submits the fields via POST to a php page which updates a table in a database with the $_POST vars. Which makes more sense? 1) simply UPDATING the values for all fields in the table, whether or not any particular field has actually changed 2) running a second SELECT statement and comparing the $_POST vars to the returned values, and only UPDATING those that have...

My VB.NET web application has a textbox where the user is allowed to enter up to 50 characters. I have a label on the form next to the textbox that tells the user how many remaining characters he can enter. This label needs to be refreshed on the fly each time the user types a character into the text box. Eventually, the user will click the SAVE button on the web form, and the data he entered in the text box will be written to the...

Hi, I am trying to use a data grid in a web application in which I have three tiers. The DataGrid is not set up to a data source, or a data adapter, so everytime I make a change I send the cell information to another object which forms an SQL query and makes the query to the DB (actually to a DBFacade object). In any case, please see the code I have listed below for my update DataGrid event. With this code, the DB is updated using the old...

I'm having trouble updating individual datagrid cells. Have two tables car_master (columns include Car_ID, YEAR,VEHICLE) and car_detail (columns include Car_ID,PRICE,MILEAGE,and BODY);both tables have a FK relationship on CAR_ID so the oracledataadapter1 select statement(CommandText) is: select car_master.car_id, car_master.year,car_master.vehicle,car_detail.car_id AS EXPR1,

Hi All! I am with a situation where I am not getting the right updating to the form's fields. The situation is the following one: I have one combobox and one textbox. I am using the CurrentChanged event of the BindingSource of the combobox to update the textbox. When selecting an item in the combobox or when selecting a row in the grid, it is updating the textbox correctly. The problem is when I apply a filter in the grid, and then...

I have a repeater in which I have a hidden field (input type = hidden), a textbox (asp:TextBox), a checkbox (input type = checkbox) and a label (asp:Label). I have bound all four items to the same bit field in a dataset, and when the items are first bound, all four are correctly databound. For example, if the stored procedure returns 1 for the value of the field, the value of the hidden field is True, the text that appears in the textbox...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
