A little help with debugging on a remote server

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me with the following:

I've read the microsoft documents on how to setup debugging on a remote
server. I have the application set up in Visual Studio ok but I'm getting
the Access is Denied message when I try to debug.

The documentation states that the solution is to add the appropriate account
to the debugger and Admin user groups on the remote server. The problem is,
I'm not sure which user account needs to be added to those groups. I should
image that it is the account that my visual studio machine connects as but
I'm not sure which account that is.

Can anyone tell me which account to add?

The remote server is windows 2000 and it isn't a domain controller

Thanks to anyone who can help

Simon

You need to add your login account to the list of Debugger Users on the remote server.

Do you mean add my login to the Local Users of the machine, in which case I
have or do you mean add it to someplace else, in which case where?

Thanks

Hi, On my dev machine (P4 1.7Ghz Win2K) debugging with Komodo is painfuly slow. There is a delay of several seconds when stepping over a single line of code. Debugging the same code with Pythonwin is very quick. Does anyone else experience slow debugging, and is there anyway to speed it up? TIA,

I spent a few hours today setting up remote debugging in VS.2003 I had to disable the firewall, subvert the security scheme and let anonymous users have full access to my COM+ objects on my Windows XP workstation, but other than that, it was smooth sailing. And, oh yeah. I also have to run remote desktop sharing terminal between my XP workstation and the W2K target or I can't RPC to the destination machine.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
