SessionID and SQLServer Session State

I've been experimenting with SQLServer session state, and I'm puzzled
by something. When I use Session.Session ID to display the session ID,
I get a 24-character string, e.g.:

ayzuglzyznc4o4e plcu1h2bj

The corresponding database value
(ASPState.ASPSt ateTempSessions .SessionID) is a 32-character string
which equates to the 24-character Session.Session ID value plus
"00000001":

ayzuglzyznc4o4e plcu1h2bj000000 01

Any idea why?

I have a Websphere server being a servlet container (and a couple of other things) running java servlets and JSP. We are migrating our online services to JSP etc.. In the meantime, I am trying to build an artifical session bridge. Imagine this... A person logs into the...

I'm trying to find out some of the details behind OOP state management with SQL Server. For instance - how long does the session object live on any server? Is it created and destoyed with each page request? - will each reading of a session variable cause a round trip to the DB server? or does the complete session live within the HttpContext object? - when asp.net session state is enabled (in any mode), after a session has been created,...

I realized that when SqlServer mode is used for session management Session_End event is not fired in global.asax. What can I do if I want to do something when a user's session end? Thanks

Hello, We have developed a web application which uses ASP.Net to persist a user's session state in SQLServer mode. The application makes use of this feature in a 2 server web farm, which is fronted by a load balancer. However the application is not picking up the session data properly when failing over from one web server to the other. We have tracked the problem down to an incorrect SessionID being used to reference the data in the...

When a new request is made to the server a new session id is issued to the client (a browser instance). The problem I’m facing is that session id that is already assigned to a browser instance is getting recycled for another browser instance by ASP.NET When the client request is sent to Http server, the available session id’s (that is already present in the pool) are recycled from the session pool along with the authentication cookie. ...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
