Webforms, using window authentication mode. with list of users coming from DB?

Trying this again

Here is the situation, I am using the
<authenticati on mode="Windows" /
for webforms not windows, but I don't want to specify the list of users in the web.config, but have the list in DB that I can modify with code.
Is this possible to do? If so, how do I get the IIS authentication to read my list, which will be stored in DB, and not look in web.config for it

Thanks
Rez

Any reason why you are not using forms authentication to do something like
that? With windows authentication you are doing just that, getting users
already stored somewhere, why would you want to in essence "double" store
them?

I have a website which has both secure and non-secure pages. I want to uses forms authentication. How do I accomplish this? Originally I had my web.config file in the root with Forms Authentication set up and it worked just fine. Then I realized that I needed to have some pages unsecure. I then created 2 directories. One named Secure and the other named Public. I placed my web.config file in my

I must be missing something very simple. I've had a web site running for a long time (anonymous access). Web.config authentication is original (anyone gets in): <authentication mode="Windows" /> <authorization> <allow users="*" /> <!-- Allow all users --> </authorization> Now I added a html subdirectory that I want to only allow certain windows

Hi, Got an asp.net application and I use the "forms" authentication mode defined in the web.config file. Everything works fine. But now I would like to add a second, different login page for the users that go in a specific folder. How can I do this?

Hello, I am in the process of evaluating ASP.NET So far I am not impressed at all. It seems to me that a basic evaluation of the PROs and CONs of using things like HTML Server Controls, Data Controls, User Controls etc. all breaks down the same way: lots of cons very few pros.

Hi, I've created a small application for our company extranet (staff bulletins) that outputs a list of links to PDF's that are stored in a SQL table. The user clicks a link and the PDF is loaded into a new browser window. This works as expected on the test PC (using forms authentication, but no SSL) using IE. It also works as expected on the production server when using FireFox. The production server environment is using forms...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
