Hi,
How can I get if the Windows running is a server version?
Is there a property somewhere that can tell me if the Windows version is a
server edition (including server, advanced server, web server, etc) or just
a workstation (if it's not a workstation, then it's a server). My app must
verifies that for security reasons. It should work from at least windows
2000 (Windows 98 and ME, would appreciated to, but if it's not possible,
I'll...

I want to be able to determine my current line, file, and function in my C#
application. I know that C++ has the __LINE__, __FUNCTION__, and __FILE___
macros for getting this, but I cannot find a C# equivalent. Any ideas?

Hi all,
I have 2 dev. machines, the 1st is Win 2000 with .NET 7.0 and the 2nd is XP
Pro with .NET 2003. My Web Server is Win 2000 Server with IIS 5.0.
I can create a new project on my test server from the 1st machine, but I
receive an 'HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server error" from my Web Server.
My userid/password are the same on all 3 machines.

Don't reply to this unless you know what you are talking about.

I just upgraded my VS.NET 2002 to VS.NET 2003.
I converted an old ASP.NET web application (a C# project), which was created in VS.NET 2002, to VS.NET 2003. Everything seems to go smoothly, but I can't debug anymore!? The message is
"Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging
ASP debugging is disabled because the ASP process is running as a user that does not have debug permissions.

Hi
I have a windows 2003 test server. I installed a web application on it,
including the debug symbol files.
I also installed the remote debugger from the Visual Studio 2003 DVD.
My client is a windows xp. Neither the client nor the server is on a domain.
Thus I replicated my local XP user account on the server.
Then I fired up the remote debugger using the command line
msvcmon -u servername\accountname

Hi,
I followed everything this article suggests:

Yet I still get the following message when stepping into a SP:
"Cannot debug stored procedures because the SQL server database is not setup

Quick background:
Our department reveived new PCs a few weeks ago. Alas, due to new security
policies, we weren't immediately set up as admins of our own machines, so
most of us developers had issues getting SQL Server and IIS running
properly.
They apparently fixed all permissions (granting us admin rights) and we
thought we were good to go.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
