Impersonation fails after upgrade to .NET Framework 1.1

I have developed and ASP.NET application that uses the aadvapi32.dll to impersonate a domain user to gain access to files on a different server. The application runs fine with the .NET Framework v1.0.3705 as soon as I upgrade to .NET Framework 1.1 the aspx page which use the aadvapi32.dll fails. the logonuser return fails to logon. as ssono as I remove the .NET framework 1.1 the application works correctly again. The server is running Windows 2000 and IIS 5. Has any one encoutered this problem or a simlar situation?

thanks.

I have two computers, client and server. The client is running Windows 2000 Professional and is in a workgroup, say "MyWorkgroup". The server is running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and is in a domain, say "MyDomain". What I need is to logon to the client as some generic local administrator user and then access resources (e.g. share folder, SQL Server using Windows Authentication, etc.) on the server. Here is what I did: I...

Hi: I've a third party DLL (not a .NET class library PE) which I use using DllImport attribute in my application running in multiple threads invoking different methods of the same DLL. The memory usage of the application is shooting to 1GB in just 30 minutes. It goes till it's 1.4GB after which I get OutOfMEmory exceptions. If I don't use the DLL, my memory stays put at 100MB.

I'm posting my problem experience and solution I found here for other ASP.NET developers. I have a web application that uses Forms Authentication with Active Directory to control access. In this web application, I have search page that utilizes the Windows Indexing Service (MSIDXS provider). For reasons I'm not aware of at this time, setting <identity impersonation="true" /> in the web.config causes an error whenever you try to search.

I have a web application with impersonate=”true” in Web.config and on my own logon page I allow the user to either - specify a userid/password for the app to impersonate when calling legacy COM objects - or, just use the interactive user If they choose to use the interactive option, the impersonate="true" means that the process runs under the interactiv user (which I've confirmed works correctly). If they specify a userid/password, I...

What is the difference between using a username and password in the processmodel section vs using one in impersonation in the machine.config file? What are the advantages of each and what are the reasons for using each? Thanks for any replies, Scott

OK I am at my wits end and I hope that someone can help me. I've got an ASP.NET web app that generates dynamic excel spreadsheets via COM. It does this work in a seperate subdirectory called "reports" and uses impersonation of the ReportWriter account in its own Web.config file in that directory. ReportWriter is an account on the machine in the Administrator group, yet I get the following error when I try and even visit the first page...

I have a web application that needs to copy files from a network share. I have been trying to use impersonation to accomplish this. This works if I impersonate my own network account ( domain\username ). However it fails when I use a user local to the machine hosting the share (RemoteMachine\username). Is there a way to copy the file using the (RemoteMachine\username) account through impersonation or other means?

Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2000, ASP.NET/VB.NET Not allowed to use the ASPNET machine account in SQL Server (very strict environment). Need to use Windows authentication, so we use "Identity Impersonate=true" in the web.config file. Trying to implement a system-wide error trapping mechanism. Nothing fancy, just writing to a log file. The recommended procedure was to

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
