Hi all,
I've been struggling with some strange VB behaviour for the last two days.
I have created a usercontrol and placed two buttons in it. One is anchored
bottom and right. When place the control on the form all is fine, I dock it
to fill and then resize the form and the last button remains anchored bottom
and right. I then build the project / or run the project and all is OK.
Now I changed the control to accept constituent...

In VB, a UserControl could determine its run-time vs. design-time status by
evaluating the UserControl.Ambient.UserMode. For the life of me I can't
figure out how to do the same basic thing in VB.NET.
I have a UserControl in which I need to perform certain functions in the
Load event during run-time, but those same functions are not possible in
design time because other resources (i.e. database, registry, etc.) haven't
been initialized....

Hi,
This question is more towards design than towards c++ details.
By looking at books on design patterns and various google threads on
the same topic, I see that composition is favoured to inheritence. One
more article I read was Allen holub's "Why extends is evil".
http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-08-2003/jw-0801-toolbox.html
One general advice I found was that - extending behaviour is better
done with interfaces and...

This is a weird one.
I have a series of "SmartParts" which are CAB (Composite Application Block)
Views which are finally just UserControls (99% of the time)
Anyway, I layout my UserControl in the VS2005 designer, but at runtime, the
controls are in different locations and different sizes. I have been able
to restore their sizes by putting a hack together that will set their sizes
to the correct values in the UserControl's Resize...

The ToolBar control allows you to add toolbar buttons. When you add a button,
the button is not only displayed in the toolbar, but also added as a
separator control in the form/usercontrol your toolbar exists in.
I'm writing my own usercontrol which contains various different controls
(e.g. Panel, Button). I would like these controls to be listed in the drop
down just above the Properties grid, when a new instance of the usercontrol
is...

Hi all!
I made a UserControl with a SplitContainer in it. I put some controls
in the SplitContainer.Panel1. After that, I created a new UserControl
which inherit from the previously created UserControl. So far, so
good... I can see the SplitContainer in the new UserControl.
However, I have a problem. I can't add a control in the Panel2 of the
SplitContainer of the UserControl which inherit from the UserControl
with the SplitContainer...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
