Strongly Typed dataset

Hello,

I have a typed dataset defined in my project. I am writing a user control
which needs to invoke an instance of that dataset. Problem is that the page
developer only provides the name of the dataset to my user control.
I want my user control to invoke an instance of that dataset from its
"string" representation of the type.
I used type.gettype("M ydatasettype") , but ctype function would not accept
it as a valid type.

Any help is appreciated.

Like any other compiled class the generated strongly-typed DataSet can be
accessed by System.Reflecti on at run-time. The easiest way to do this is
probably with the Activator.Creat eInstance(..) method, but I'm fairly
certain you'll have to load the Assembly that has the DataSet in it manually
(if it's not already loaded - you'll have to check for that as well).

Does that help?

We have an object factory that returns weakly typed datasets (just plain ol' DataSet's). I need to cast it, or transform it, or map it to a strongly typed dataset. There's an old adage I heard from a Microsoft developer a long time ago: If it's taking more than 10 lines of code, then you are doing it wrong. Is there an *easy* way to do this in a *generic* way? I have been experimenting with serveral techniques and

Hello all. I have noticed that when I generate a strongly-typed dataset from an xml schema that the DataTables that are generated have their constructors marked as internal. What this means is when I try to instantiate one of the strongly-typed tables from this dataset from a different assembly, I cannot. Let me provide examples... If I have a simple dataset like this:

I have a strongly typed dataset that returns two tables - "items" and "itemdetails". In the strongly-typed dataset designer, I've created a link (relationship) between the two tables based on a foreign key. I want to put them into a nested repeater, but I'm having problems finding a "nice" way of doing it. Can someone please point me in the direction of a tutorial or best practice to achieve this?

I have been developing applications with Java for quite a while but I am new to .NET development. I am trying to learn the ".NET way" of creating Strongly Typed Objects from a database. The Enterprise Library seems pretty close to what I am used to in Java but I am not sure how to create strongly-typed DataSets. I see that I can use the LoadDataSet method from a Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.Database but I am not clear on how...

I've created a strongly typed DataSet (Customers.xsd) using the xsd.exe tool. I want to be able to access fields using ds.Customer.CompanyName. The problem is when I return this DataSet from a Web Service it adds another Table to the DataSet that contains the data. I have to access the data using ds.Tables.Rows.ToString(). This defeats the whole purpose of using a strongly typed DataSet. Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm designing an extranet web site that customers will use to log in and see their account history, make payments against their balance, etc. I've declared a strongly typed DataSet as a public static object in the main accounts page - "public Customer.DataSet dsMyData = new Customer.DataSet();" and populate the tables with information about the account, services, etc which are referenced from the other pages as such: lblEMail.Text =...

Silly question maybe, but I've been doing the following for far too long now: public static DataTable myDataTable() { string sql = @"SELECT column1, column2, column3, column4 FROM myTable"; using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(websqlconn)) { SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(sql, conn);

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
