learning asp.net - proper method of development and then deploy

TM
I am trying to learn ASP.net as part of my learning of .net in general, and
was wondering how applications are developed and then deployed most of the
time ?

Do people do development on a development server, then deploy to the live
server, or do most people develop on their pc locally and then deploy to a
development server ?

Thanks

It depends on if the IT shop in question has a dedicated development server.
If you have more than one developer working on the same project, then
practically must have a central server so the project files can be shared
between them. When you develop on your local PC, you are still using a
server (personal version of IIS). An ASP.NET applicaton will not run outside
the context of IIS.

I have been working on an ASP.NET (with VB.NET code behind) on my development workstation. Things have been going well and I have been posting changes to the project to a development server (running W2000 Server) for the 'customers' to view as I accomplish goals. I have been using the feature in VS.NET that allows you to upload the project from inside VS.NET and although I have had success in the past with it sometimes, this project...

What is the proper/suggested/best way to deploy a webapp to a Win2K3 Server running IIS6? I am coming from the j2ee world (easy on the flames please, I'm moving to ..NET remember :>), and I've created a solution that has my four web apps contained in their own projects (correct me if that's not the proper way, but that's an easy way to manage webapps in JBuilder), and I was hoping I could create another project (?) to copy the files over...

Being a ASP developer for a consultant company thinking of starting developing with ASP.NET I have read literally hundreds of web pages and posts in discussion forums on the Internet to get an idea of what we will need to adapt to. I have read Microsoft’s “Team Development with Visual Studio .NET and Visual SourceSafe” and tried to set up a development environment as recommended using the “Isolated model”. However, many questions...

I am sorry if this is an inappropriate place to put this post, if so please delete it. I am wondering about a few things. Do you guys recommend learning C as a second language, as someone who already knows java very well. And what is the best way to learn C, books, tutorials, or what? Thanks, any response would be great.

Hey, I'm, I guess, an itermediate programmer and I have a question about learning any programming language. I understand that as a programmer you're going to probably constantly be re-writing code and the best method would be to save a template or other etc. I also know that it's ok to use other people's code to help you do something, but wouldn't it be best to re-type the code or study it until YOU learn how to do it and you actually...

Hello. I'm developing and testing a web application using VS.NET 2003, VB, .NET Framework 1.1.4322, ASP.NET 1.1.4322 and IIS5.1 on a WIN XP Pro, SP2 computer. I'm using a web form. How do I move this project/solution from a local development xp pro computer which uses IIS/localhost, to another xp pro computer that is on a Windows 2003 server domain. I want to be able to use the Windows 2003 server IIS instead of localhost.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
