I have extended the datetimepicker control to incorporate
a ReadOnly property.
I have used the new keyword to implement my own version
of the value property, so that if readonly == true then
it will not set the value of the control and will leave
the checked status of the checkbox to false when a user
selects a new date.
this works fine when using the control on a win2k machine
but if we use it on a win XP box and call

Hi all,
I'm working on a web site and I would like to use the VS login controls. The
problem I'm having is that when I create a new user all works fine. The user
gets added to the database and is logged in to the web site. the problem is
when you leave the web site you can not login again. I get a message " Your
login attempt was not successful. Please try again.".
I have a form where I have added the LogIn, LoginStatus, LoginName, and...

I just started the design of an ASP.NET application which accesses one of
our custom web services to provide user authentication, among other
purposes.
I created a log-in page (code below), using the WebControls.Login control.
I put a simple label on the page, to display text showing whether the log-in
was successful. I populate the Label.Text from within the event handler for
the Login control's Authenticate event.
But when I run...

The majority of pages on our site need authentication (forms auth against the
aspnetdb database). I created an '~/auth' folder with its own config file
forcing authentication for any pages in the folder.
The default.aspx sits in the root folder and just does a Response.Redirect
to an ~/auth/home.aspx page. The config forces authentication, which is
carried out by ~/pub/login.aspx which has a standard asp:login control.
I set up the...

Hi,
I have a problem with existing customers from an old site, coming to
my new asp.net 2.0 site with the user roles and membership, and trying
to login with their old details.
As you know, the new built in membership encrypts passwords (I know
you can use the system without encrypting the passwords, but this what
i have unfortunetaly gone with), so I can not simply import the data
from the old database into the new one.

I cannot access my SQL database in a browser control created in my C# Windows
application program I can, however, access the database from an IE browser.
I get the ubiquitous "Login failed for NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE" error
message. I researched all the advice on the internet and tried to add an NT
AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE login to my database under the Security/Users tab
using SQL Server Mangement. However, there is no NT...

I want to add the security question and answer security feature to the
ChangePassword control. I am aware that this functionality is built into the
PasswordRecovery tool. I have implemented the PasswordRecovery with a
Password reset required; a temporary password is sent to the account on
file. I want an extra layer of security to accommodate the very unlikely
contingency that someone's e-mail account is compromised. Challenging with
the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
