Active Directory using LDAP query

Don't know if anyone will be able to answer this but I have to use a non
..net com object at work to query AD. However, the problem we are
experiencing is if the user is only in 2 groups, for example Domain Users
and Application1 this com object will return false if I check to see if the
user is a member of Application1. The com developer cannot determine why at
this point. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything that might prevent
an accurate group membership on a user account when querying with LDAP. Any
user that is in more than 2 groups works just fine.

Thanks and my apologies if this should be some where else.

Marty

Hi! I asked here a few weeks ago the same question but the answer of Tim Golden didn't really help yet. I'd like to know how to set up a query for all computer-accounts in a special part of Active Directory by using LDAP. Example: all computers with a name like "ABC*" at "..., ou=Production,

Hey all, Working on revamping our Intranet here and making use of the LDPA, Active Directory, Directory Services, etc. that .Net provides. I am still fairly new on this subject, so the problem I have run into I am not sure how to fix, and really not sure what is causing it. Here's what is going on (test server - Windows 2003 Server): I have a page in a folder (under anonymous authentication in IIS6) that has a link on it that...

My goal, somehow, is to populate a dropdownlist with all the user names in active directory. I don't even know where to begin, really. I added a reference to System.DirectoryServices so I could use the System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory namespace. I don't even know if this is the right way to go as I can't seem to find anything in that namespace that would help me query active directory for names. I can't use an LDAP query...

In this brief tutorial I'll describe how you retrieve information from an Active Directory through the OLE-DB extension. While it is possible to use the LDAP extension to achieve the same goal, as you will see using Microsoft's OLE-DB provider is much easier. You will need to download and install the OLE-DB extension. Here's the location once again: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=171247&package_id=198554. See my...

I am trying to write a script to simply query the group members in an active directory group. I need to use LDAP to make sure I capture any global global group nestings that may occur. I already have a function that uses WinNT provider to capture this info from NT4 or AD domains and it works beautifully. It just doesn't capture global > global nestings. I am having great difficulties in getting this to work on AD though with ldap. I...

Hi, I hope you guys can help me. I need to build a form that request username and password on ASP not ASP.net (sorry to clarify but i got some responses in other forums in .net) This form will send an LDAP query into the active directory located on a different server and it will check for existing users. If the users exist they will be redirected to a new page. if not they will be prompt to try again for username and password. What...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
