I have observed that a temporary loss of a domain controller can cause
problems creating new ado connections between a client machine running
ado and a separate sql server machine that are members of the domain.
I understand why this happens when creating connections with windows
authentication. What is a mystery is that it also sometimes effects
new connections that use "sql authentication". Below is a description
of my test scenario.

Is there an event or "something" that happens where I can Log a message (or
whatever) when a logon attempt fails when using "Windows Authentication".
If not, I could just do my own logon screen, but then how could I take the
credentials supplied and verify them against the Windows User list at the
server?
Thanks.

Hello,
I am using "FORMS" authentication, without SSL the behavior is normal, everythings working very well.
When in IIS I cheking "Require SSL" (in Secure Communications property), I can't to do login, after introducing the credentials, I am redirected to login's page again, If I take the SSL's Check off in the ISS property, everythings will work very well again.
NOTE: I have a valid certificate well installed.
What is happening?,...

Hello everyone,
I've got two little apps which are able to create a window that displays
something on the desktop, but are not clickable. Instead, when you
click on the window, the item 'behind' or 'under' that window gets clicked.
I'd like to know how to do this, using VB6, VB.Net, Windows Forms, or
API functions.
Any ideas?

Hi!
I have been struggeling with this Windows, Authentication method for a
while, and i am beginning to give up.
So a couple of questions that you guys probably have the answer on.
1. One should add the user to the Active Directory, right?
2. Could i use the Login components to validate the user? (Studio 2005)
3. Do i have to specify every user in the Web.Config?

We have a web application that, for the purposes of reporting, launches a
new window to display the contents of the report in (PDF format). This is
implemented using a custom IHttpHandler implementation in our project.
The report is launched by a standard hyperlink with a target="blank" to
force the new window.
The one problem I have noticed is that if the user leaves the "launcher"
page open a long time, the web server will invariably...

i saw a code refactorying onload event listener
window.onloadListeners=new Array();
window.addOnLoadListener=function(listener) {
window.onloadListeners=listener;

why declare the onloadListeners, addOnLoadListener below window?

While reading c.l.j, I've noticed that some people prefer and indeed even
recommend the use of "window.alert()" over "alert()".
I can't find any technical reason to make this distinction, and seems to
have a (tiny) amount overhead since window itself points to the global
object, hence, a circular reference.
(From everything I am reading, window is just a REFERENCE back to the
global object, as opposed to a separate object.)

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
