Hello guys,
I'm currently developing a Web Custom Control project with VS.Net2003.
It's Ok, I've made my WebControl inherited class. Also I created a
typed-DataSet that's intended to be a property of the control, and I must
expose this public to class... But, when I reference the dll of the control,
the toolbox lists both the controls and the DataSet i've created...
Is there a way to "hide" the DataSet from the toolbox? Maybe some kind of
attribute, dunno...
Thanks,
Rafa 1 1054
Rafael,
In the class generated for your typed dataset, change the
"[System.Componen tModel.ToolboxI tem(true)]" attribute to
"[System.Componen tModel.ToolboxI tem(false)]". Unfortunately, you'll need to
do this every time you the class is regenerated. If there's a way to change
the default generation behaviour, I haven't found it.
HTH,

I'm trying to figure out the "best" way to implement a strongly typed
ArrayList. Using inheritance is one approach. It has the advantage that I
only have to write overrides for the Add method and indexer. There are
problems with this however. First the indexer "override" has a different
return type. This doesn't cause a compile time error, but using the indexer
doesn't seem to produce a properly typed expression. The Add override must...

Just wanted to confirm that my understanding of a strongly typed language is
correct:
1. .NET is a strongly typed language because each variable / field must be
declared a specific type (String, Int, Float, etc...)
2. VB 6 and VBScript were not strongly typed because both allowed you to ...
dim blah
.... which creates a variant.

Hi,
I have a method, which opens a connection, creates an untyped datable, fills it and returns it back.
I have defined a typed datatable in my application as well. For some reasons, I have to call the above mentioned method to get data. Unfortunately, as it returns an untyped datatable, I can't assign my typed datatable variable this value (a base type can't be converted into a sub type automatically).
Without resorting to looping thru...

I have a collectiond derived from NameObjectCollectionBase. FxCop is
complaining that I need to implement a strongly typed CopyTo(MyObjectType,
int)
How do I do this? I can't seem to find any implementations of CopyTo() that
don't rely on Array.Copy or some other internal .NET method. Unfortunately,
there's nothing I can find that will work for a NameObjectCollectionBase
derived class. I can't find any implementations of CopyTo() for...

Hi,
I'm relatively new to VB.NET so I'd be grateful if someone could point out what I don't understand here...
1) Creating a strongly typed collection by inheriting CollectionBase.
This is covered in most of the books I've read. Basically you inherit CollectionBase and then add methods (say Add) that takes your types as a parameter and then calls List.Add from the base class. OK.
However CollectionBase exposes the IList interface...

I use the following code for a strongly typed arraylist and it works great.
However, I was wondering if this is the proper way to do it. I realize that
if I want to implement sorting of the arraylist then I have to handle this
with a sort method that uses comparer. I can reference the properties of the
Arraylist directly such as
dim mylist as new FrameList
mylist.Add(new FrameStructure)
mylist(0).first = "blabla..."
mylist(0).second...

Hi,
How do i implement a typed IList class?
Visual Studio automatically generates template code for a IList, but for
example indexer is of type 'object', but i need it of type 'MyType'.

in March, i posted a essay “What is Expressiveness in a Computer

I've always used untyped datasets. In a Microsoft course, it walks through
creating typed datasets and harps on the benefits. It has you drag all
these things around ..wizard, wizard, wizard... code gen, code gen, code
gen.
What's at the end looks slick, but then there's a ton of generated code that
I'm going to have to maintain now.
I.e. I like typing things myself (don't like wizards) so I can know exactly
what I've done.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupr who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
