Hi
I have a service installed, but I want to programatically set it to 'Manual'
startup, rather than 'Automatic'.
I cannot do this with 'System.serviceProcess.ServiceInstaller()' as I don't
actually install the service (MSDE does), but I want it set to Manual, and
my app starts and stops it.
I can Start and Stop the service, but need it to be Manual, and not
Automatic

I've been using monitors a bit lately (some of you may have heard ;-) ) and
then up pop Manual and AutoResetEvents , and they look for all the world
like the same thing.
Are they interchangeable, or when should I use one over the other?
TIA
Charles

another question. this one more just a curiosity.
why does Visual Studio 2005 "support" manual compilation of source code
files only through the inconvenient command line? I see and understand
MS pushing Runtime and Pre- Compilation as more advanced methodologies,
but they could have easily added an option for old school VS 2003 / ASP
1.x compilation just under 'Build' or 'Publish'.

Hi there,
I have another trivial question. In the PHP manual, the description
section often contains the following elements:
Description
array mysql_fetch_array ( resource $result )
I am wondering what is a ( resource $result )?

I want to learn how to do a manual compile. I found an article on the web
which indicated that you can create a response file and then use that
response file to do the compile. I was wondering if there is some way I can
tell VS2005 to create a response file for the project which is being compiled
so that I could use this as a starting point for subsequent compiles?
Any place you can steer me to so that I can learn how to do manual...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
